6. There is a gulf of difference between
Clark and Bush. With that said, I believe Kerry did a good job, but unfortunately the right has latched on with the Religious right, and they have affectively set the agenda against us.

10. This is silly ...

First, you're confusing the primary with the general election. Second, you're making a blatantly false assumption. What evidence do you have that people who claimed to be ABB would *not* have voted for Clark had he won the primary?

8. A partial list of people (and things) I would have voted for before voting
Edited on Tue Dec-21-04 07:27 PM by Oddly Stevenson
for *.....let's jump in on the C's.....

Gary Cole
Gary Coleman
Vince Coleman
a Coleman lantern
cole slaw
Bartolo Colon
a colostomy
a colostomy bag
Jackie Collins
Doug Collins
a Tom Collins
Nick Collison

etc., etc., etc.

All kidding aside, I have a difficult time thinking of anyone who would have been a worse choice than *.....maybe some of the radical clerics like Falwell or Robertson, but very few others come to mind.

9. You're new here which will get you flamed. And I'm "old" here which will
also get ME flamed. I was ABB the whole time. Still am. But I think we would have done a hell of a lot better if Clark had prevailed (and I live in the only state, Oklahoma, where he won the Dem primary...how weird is that? That said, I do NOT believe Chimp won the election fair and square...there was a LOT of fraud, vote manipulation and criminal activity. Gephardt was too cozy with the right-wingers. Other than Dean, and to an extent, Kucinich, our candidates were too pussy-whipped to raise the necessary hell. I will be making another post where I contend this 'result' may well be the best possible scenario at the present moment. Stay tuned. ;-)

11. I am very liberal, but
I would even vote for a repuke that was not associated with this regime. And, to me, Gephardt is not a moderate. I don't like his war views AT ALL, but his economic/labor credentials are impeccable and courageous.

12. Good God I'd vote for you over Bush
I don't think some Americans have really woken up and smelled the coffee yet.

Bush is a man that promotes and rewards those that fail and in essence are the cause of deaths of our own. (I'm not even going to go into the many more deaths of those not Americans) I mean Rumsfeld, Tenet and Rice-just for starters.

He is reckless and incompetent. Frankly, I don't think any stranger on the street could do much worse.

13. I just wanted Bush out of the White House....I wasn't thrilled with
the Dem candidate chosen. So, what else can one do? NOT VOTE?

Once Kerry was picked, I did my best to support him along with the rest of you.

In my heart of hearts though, I was determined to chastise anything he did that wasn't traditionally Democratic. I was prepared to hold his feet to the fire to ensure he didn't enact any of those DLC ideas.

I figured he was much better than a republican/neocon, but certainly NOT the best we could do...

I pretty much liked all the primary candidates, but Kerry was my first choice.

18. Gephardt and Clark didn't lose because they weren't liberal enough
Clark lost because he didn't compete in Iowa.

Gephardt lost because his message fell flat in Iowa when he and Dean decided to run negative ads against each other.

Exit polls in Iowa showed voters were firmly ABB and seriously thought that Kerry and Edwards had the best chance to defeat Bush, so they voted for those candidates overwhelmingly.

19. I get the feeling that the Nomination process/DNC/DLC/think tanks et al
Edited on Wed Dec-22-04 03:48 AM by Sugarbleus
are the ONLY ones who get to "promote" "A Candidate" ...it's out of the hands of the every day people. They hold the power, the money, the advertising, the clout..THEY decide whom they feel will "be best" FOR US and jocky that candidate to the front...........after that, it's left to chance.

A Democratic friend of mine said to me before the elections: 'Why can't "The Democrats" select a better candidate'. That says it all. "The Democrats"?..who was she referring to? --->THE THINK TANKS, FOCUS GROUPS, CHAIRMANSHIPS, CONVENTIONERS...NOT us.

I HATE our system of elections. It's screwed up. I'm for abolishing the electoral college and going to one man one vote. Most votes wins.

I'm also in favor of outlawing all professional lobbyists and emplementing term limits on Senators and abolishing political districting.

KEEP IT SIMPLE...my motto

Kerry wasn't my preference but once it came down to him I worked like hell for him. And I'd have done the same for whoever our nominee was. Even Gephardt. Even Lieberman.

24. I was NOT anybody but Bush.
If Hitler's clone showed up, I probably would have voted for Bush. If Limbaugh were running, I'd have definitely voted for Bush.

If Rumsfeld (Rumsferatu) were running... it would be a toss up.

If most Dems thought Clark would have had a better chance of winning, we would have nominated him. OF COURSE.

Personally, Kerry was my third choice after Clark and Dean. But everyone was so much better than * that the distinction between them all was totally minor.
