State of Union address, budget submission slated for early February
State of Union address, budget submission slated for early February

From National Journal
President Bush will deliver his State of the Union address on February 2 and will send Congress his fiscal 2006 budget proposal on Monday, February 7, according to White House and congressional sources.

White House officials reviewed the second terms of Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton to inform their thinking about scheduling the State of the Union address, which will take place on a Wednesday night, nearly two weeks after the president's January 20 inauguration.

The president hopes that his address -- which will lay out a thematic but policy-rooted rationale for his second term -- will follow elections in Iraq on January 30.

1. Just a coincidence, I suppose
That the Super Bowl will be played February 6. No problem, though. We all know that Americans know the correct priority of things, and the State of the Union (Do you wonder if Chalabi will be an honored guest again? Me neither) and budget proposal will simply swamp the coverage of one more football game.

Am I right or am I right?

2. Well, I know that New Orleans won't be paying attention...
Mardi Gras is on Frebruary 8th. Everybody over the age of 12 will be drunk.

3. Can't wait!
Can't wait to hear about the hydrogen Freedom Cars we'll let roll in the sands of Iraq as we bring democracy n' freedumb by privatizing the Iraqi Social Security system with extra tax cuts going to companies that managed to get in on the ground floor of Iraqi asset privatization as we drill our way to eternal energy independence through eliminating the death tax audit and bringin' market forces to our Clear Skies.

With liberty and tax cuts for all.
