1. Maybe now there'll be enough emphasis on punch cards
that the Harvard Civil Rights Report on ballot spoilage and things of a similar nature or concern, like the work of Greg Palast, etc., will be spotlighted.

And maybe Randi Rhodes will FINALLY realize they don't use Diebold machines in a widespread capacity in Ohio :)

4. Triad Machines ... what remedies are possible ??
OK ... let's say Kerry et al are able to prove that the Triad voting machines were tampered with ... then what ??

I assume a court could readily obtain the reported vote counts on those machines ... let's say two possibilities exist ...

1. the court throws out all votes recorded by those machines ... how can we find out what effect that would have on the Ohio vote totals ... has the "Triad vote count" been published ??
or
2. the court finds that the election "was tainted" and throws out the entire Ohio vote ...

is option 2 even a possibility? could there be a re-vote? what if proof of other tampering either within or outside Ohio arises?

I guess the question is: what are the possible remedies based on varying degrees of proof of election fraud ?? anyone know ???

7. so then what happens? many questions....
let's assume that hanky-panky with the vote count is "verified officially"

Will this mean bush* will be deposed? Or will the "furor" be dragged out past the inauguration? Will the electoral votes go to Kerry, and/or the repug congress steps in and overturns it?

If bush* is inaugurated -- and then later "deposed" does this mean Cheney is in charge or does he also get thrown out and that puts Hassert (assuming he maintains house leadership position) in the big chair?

another presidential vote? or just a whole-lotta toothless legistlation designed to put lipstick on a pig to make it look like congress is "concerned" about the integrity of the election process?

8. Lots of snow in Ohio yesterday...
I read that the courthouse was closed & Kerry couldn't file. So does that mean he tries again today, or next week, or what? Is he really going to file?

I don't want to get my hopes up only to have them dashed again!

11. Kerry did not pay for the recount
and this "fray" you speak of is nothing more than lawyering to endorse a Bush win in Ohio, not to challenge it. Kerry is supporting the status-quo of the Establishment of which he is part of!

Read the actual statement, as reported on the Keith Olbermann Show and you will get a totally different impression that what the Kerry apologists want you to get.

As to the people that are really fighting for us in Ohio:

Which brings us back again Washington. There, Mr. Conyers wrote yesterday to the various chairmen, network presidents, and news division leaders at ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, and the Associated Press, requesting that they release to the House Judiciary Committee “the raw exit poll data from the 2004 November presidential election you purchased from Mitofsky International and Edison Media Research.” I suppose I should have some inside information on NBC’s response, but I don’t. Responses from the other networks have thus far spoken of the need to wait for final reports to be compiled from the data — which would seem to be exactly the opposite of the point Conyers is making.

Ohio County Reports: Details of an Injustice
by David Cobb

The Ohio recount is uncovering serious problems in our electoral processes that must be addressed immediately, both in Ohio and other states. The Green Party has posted a number of the Ohio County recount reports on its website at http://www.votecobb.org/recount/ohio_reports/index.php, and more are being posted every day.

<snip>

While many of the local election officials and staff members we have met in Ohio’s 88 counties are hard-working, well-meaning people, almost none of them have allowed the recount to proceed using “random” recount processes. In addition, we have found election and recount procedures in several counties that do not appear to follow the spirit or letter of Ohio Election law. Finally, election laws appear to have been applied unevenly across Ohio in ways that produced unfairness against poor and minority voters.

We will continue to post the latest information and analysis on the www.votecobb.org website as it becomes available.

David Cobb was the Presidential candidate for the Green Party during Campaign 2004 (www.votecobb.org). He has joined with Michael Badnarik of the Libertarian Party to file an historic recount challenge to the 2004 presidential election results in Ohio.
