Let's talk about "insiders" and "outsiders" shall we?
Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 05:42 AM by Dover
I've heard several people and the media refer to Clinton as an "outsider" who overcame the odds to win the presidency....as some kind of comparison to Dean. Clinton was much more inside than people are willing to believe.

Excerpt from a WP article about Vernon Jordan and Clinton:

While Clinton is, as president, the visible leader in the relationship, the two men's friendship is as close to equal as can be in a bond involving the chief executive, friends of both men say. After all, it was Jordan who first introduced then-Gov. Clinton to world leaders at their annual Bilderberg gathering in Germany in 1991. Plenty of governors try to make that scene; only Clinton got taken seriously at that meeting, because Vernon Jordan said he was okay.

Now some of you want to pretend that this annual Bilderberg meeting is some fantasy of conspiracy theorists, or that it is simply a bunch of rich people enjoying each other's company. But the truth is that this is one of many venues where the elite "insiders" meet outside the prying eyes of the media and public view. And it certainly looks like it is a place where potential leaders are checked out and groomed and perhaps pre-selected for these roles. And it does not appear to be particularly partisan either.
Whether you find participation in this event acceptable or not, benign or malefic...for better or worse this is a REAL occurence, and these people ARE members of the "inside" or power elite. So if you are tempted to discredit this information, please provide evidence or reasons why this shouldn't matter or be believed.

Kerry has also made the pilgrimage to Bilderberg, as have many others. And Soros is a member. I don't know if Dean has any connection, but my point is that we shouldn't fool ourselves that these people were EVER outsiders, or that a real outsider is going to make it past the preliminary stages of candidacy if that far. I'm not being negative....I just don't want to pretend anymore.

1. Never heard anyone call Clinton an "outsider."
Not that it matters. He wasn't. Dean isn't.
