Looks like Wes Clark plans to be around for awhile.....
His holiday message includes some insight into his future plans!

Holiday Greetings from Wes Clark
December 23, 2004

SNIP

Finally, the holidays are a time for us to look forward, eagerly anticipating what the New Year will bring -- and what we will bring to the New Year. We've accomplished so much together in this past year, but we all know that our work has only just begun.

With your help and active participation, WesPAC is going to help provide the kind of leadership that America so desperately needs: sound, wise leadership that reaches across cultural, geographic, and partisan divides to bring our country together, solve common problems, and address the threats facing America both at home and abroad. Anchored in the ideals of service, integrity, and accountability, WesPAC is committed to developing and supporting leaders who share our values in all levels of government, forging a winning progressive electoral majority that spans both “red” and “blue” states.

In the coming days and weeks, we'll be refining WesPAC's mission, relaunching our website, and recommitting ourselves for the tasks ahead. I think you'll like what you see.

ur very best wishes for a blessed holiday season.

Sincer
Geely,

Wes Clark

31. Sorry -- but tacky to do this in a "holiday" email
Not much class -- maybe he learned this kind of exploitation in the board rooms where he and they were deciding we had no interest in the privacy of our travel records.

4. And a Very Happy Birthday to
Wes Clark and to his grandson Wes who was born last year on the General's birthday. How wonderful he was there for the occasion, since he was overseas in a hospital with extensive injuries from VietNam, when Wes Jr. was born.

I love that this letter was sent out on his birthday. It looks like he's rested and looking forward to a very productive New Year ahead.

Mary

14. But it's more important than that, isn't it?
I mean more important than just Gen. Clark. It sounds as if Clark might join the same movement that Dean and the progressive movement have. I might be projecting, but I hope that WesPac will support new blood running at the local level.

I really hope that's the case. How wonderful that would be!

16. Of course it is.....
And WesPAC has been supporting Democrats all over the country since it was formed, did you know?

Anyway, a birthday comes around once a year.....support for great Democratic candidates should be a 365 day proposition. So the B-day message was important to me....today.

Been reading your posts. Pretty interesting...some of what you are saying.

13. Good for him! I didn't support Clark in the primaries...
because I didn't trust someone who basically came out of nowhere, politically speaking, to run for the party's nomination. Since then, he's done a lot as a progressive voice, a surrogate for Kerry, and now this.

People like me won't have the same concerns the next time he decides to run for something.

22. MY REPLY TO WES CLARK
And I hope that all those of you who appreciate the national treasure that is Wes Clark will encourage him to run again in '08.
Maybe our General needs to hear about the now massive support he has.
This is what I sent back.

Dear General Clark and family,
Thank you for these kind thoughts for the holiday season and the future. Your candidacy inspired many of us who are old enough to remember, like no one since Bobby Kennedy. I did volunteer work for the first time in my life. Your candidacy gave us the hope that a true American patriot, not only a military patriot, but a patriot for all the American people, could become President. I stand in awe of the kind of candidate you became in a short period of time, despite the media's refusal to give you any equal opportunity and even some of my fellow Democrats' refusal to truly accept you into the party. 2008 is not that far away. There are legions of your supporters (you need only to look at our dominance of blogs like the Democratic Underground) encouraging you to run again in '08. Many many Democrats have now come to appreciate you from your efforts at the convention and campaigning for Kerry. The world will look different in 2008. I and your many other supporters encourage you to run for President again; you will find that the massive support will be there. I have already converted my Clark '04 button to Clark '08!! We can have a three-year headstart this time. Bless you sir.

28. Of all the known potential candidates...
... out there, Mr. Clark impresses and inspires me the most. His progressive rhetoric is second to no one, his ability to handle the media also.

Not only that, but I think he is the most "electible" (ok, I hate that word too :)) candidate also. I think he can bring together a wide group of opinions. He shows the ability to reach out and explain a position in a positive rather than devisive way - while not taking any crap from the "issue framers".

All I have to do it get over the idea that he is a DLCer, and all would be absolutely perfect :) But even if he is, he's my man for 2008 at the present time.

46. People will say just about anything...
First, the DLC is made up of elected officials. Clark is not DLC...Gore was DLC, Clinton was DLC, Dean was DLC, Edwards was/is DLC, Kerry was/is DLC....

Does Clinton lknow and like Clark? You bet. Actually Clark met a young Hillary R. before he met Clinton.

These folks are all part of the brianiacs of their generation. They know each other.

Clark ran because of prodding from many people, but without the draft movement, he would not have run. We asked him...in some cases begged him. My pin, that I proudly wear, says a founding member of the "Draft Clark" movement...not the Clinton-DLC conspiracy.

Remember: many things that are written about Clark at DU are part of an attempt to raise doubts among the readers in an effort to bolster the profile of their choice of candidate. If they think that associating Clark with Clinton will somehow smear Clark; then that is what they write.
