Coralville, Ia. - Two hundred caucus-goers overflowed the basement of the Coralville library, where John Kerry supporters tried to ensure that no one went over to the Howard Dean camp.

The corner that held supporters of the former Vermont governor was the largest by far - his name was the only one that evoked cheers when read.

Supporters of Dennis Kucinich were asked to step into the hall when it came time to split into groups.

When it came time for voters to realign, Kerry volunteers told those who were undecided or were switching allegiance to support any candidate but Dean, even if they weren't supporting Kerry.

Those present said they understood this was their chance to have their say.

1. We spent too much time exciting a bunch of folks who were going
to vote for Dean any way and not enough time trying to actually connect with John Q Pubic. He should have taken the time to be on shows that Americans actually watch like the Daily Show and Letterman when he was at his peak, not going to see us in BFE. End of story, blaming the Kerry people and the Kucinich people is rediculous.

3. Thank you for your honesty and candor...
I admire that, and since it's the first post I've seen today with a Dean avatar, when I was expecting a little more anger, animosity, and finger pointing, that's a nice way to start the day being proven pleasantly wrong.

And good luck to your candidate in the upcoming primaries.

2. Did you watch the C-SPAN live view of a caucus last night?

The Dean chairwoman was telling Kucinich reporters to vote for Dean and she'd "get them a delegate at the county" or "nominate them for delegate" and nobody understood what she meant. Was this just a line to get a few more supporters? She was trying to get enough for Dean to win a second delegate.

A Gephardt supporter was heard telling supporters of Kucinich, Edwards, and Lieberman (and Dean, I think) to come over to Gephardt because he was the most like their candidate. . . Most like Kucinich, Edwards, Lieberman, and Dean? :eyes:

Supporters of each candidate (Dean included) were lobbying for their candidate, trying to get the Gephardt and Kucinich supporters since both were below 15% in that caucus and had to go to another candidate or just leave.

My point is that it seems that all is fair in love and caucuses.

Politics ain't bean bag.
