1. Someone posted the other day how happy they were that ......
...they had bought a new Dell Computer.
I didn't have the heart to tell them the Far Right-Wing reputation of Dell.

6. Don't mean to be petty, but
I think you meant that Michael Dell will have to make his billions without you.

Add me to that list, but, sadly, too many others will blindly support this madness.

11. I have a local business build mine. Less expensive and comes with
a guarantee. When I bought a Dell, several years ago, I could not get online. I called Dell, they told me my modem was good after I did the dianostics.

I took it to the guys that now build my business machines, and they told me my modem was blown. They replaced it.

My business machines work well, and they come in once a month and do all the diagnostics for a set fee.

Worth it.

5. APPLE
Apple is the company for Democrats!

"Billionaire investor Warren Buffett and Apple Computer Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs are advising Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry on economic issues.

Kerry, 60, the four-term Massachusetts senator challenging President George W. Bush, "reached out to them and they're giving him economic advice about the deficit and job creation," said David Wade, Kerry's campaign spokesman.

"Political campaigns are always looking for celebrity endorsements and these are two eminent celebrities in the investment world," said James Lucier, a political analyst at Prudential Equity Group LLC. "But I don't think investors are looking for celebrities, they are looking for policies.""

Jobs gave money to someone in the primaries... I can not remember who...

7. I'm sorry, but...
Dell makes good computers. I'm not putting out $2,000 into some junk that breaks down all the time, like my experience with Gateway. I know it sucks that Dell gives money to Republicans, but I gotta have something reliable.

9. i can build a more reliable computer than gateway or dell...
after enough experience with PCs you probably could too (if already can). besides your choices are far from dell or gateway. it is a highly competative market. shop around...

i also recommend apple for the casual consumer, by the way. the features they want with the integration that simplifies and all nice and cozy within a friendly interface. great for people wanting to simplify their life.

i deeply regret helping my parents getting their new PC (been forever PC owners) -- they are simply too old and tied to their routines to really get the full use out of it anymore. they needed something to adapt to them, not them adapt to the machine... next time i force an apple upon them.

13. IF A LAPTOP
buy IBM. Reliability and service are outstanding. Added bonus is that IBM uses an "eraser head" for its mouse, giving one great control and speed of arrow movement. Thumb can remain poised to click.

22. I had mine built locally and so
did my son. Told them what I wanted and a few days later I had it. Another plus is if something goes wrong with it, I can get them on the phone right away..no sitting on hold after punching umpteen menu numbers.

If you still need convincing Apple is a liberal company... they have their own enviormental page! http://www.apple.com/environment/

Apple has changed a lot since Mac OSX... It is the most stable operating system out there and is widely considered to be vastly superior to Windows.

In fact they currently have the fastest computers with the G5 processor. (Built by IBM)

Check out the reviews of the new iMac at a PC publications! And that is to say nothing of the rave reviews they received at the Mac publications.

PC World 4/5

PC Magazine: 5/5
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1648806,00.asp

If you have not tryed a Mac recently (and no school and work do not count) then go try one out at an Apple retail store which are equally impressive!

DDR (400) 3200 - 1 GB (2 pcs 512) OCZ

160 GB WD Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
DVD-RW NEC ND-3500A/GNS 16x-Dual Layer

Bite on this dell. your politics suck as bad as your product. check out this site: http://www.resellerratings.com/ to see how the public hates Dell's products. If you don't want to build a system yourself look for a company with high ratings on ResellerRatings. Monarch Computers and KC Computers are two awesome computer builders you can depend on. For laptops there's Powernotebooks.com. Don't know the owners' politics but here's my old-school vision of the American dream. Small boutique service with quality and non-outsourced customer service.

23. More than that, though, Dell computers have VERY poor quality now
They've been cutting costs like Mr. Burns in the Simpsons - moved everyting from Utah to Texas and the quality is down the tubes.

I have several customers of mine with Dells and every single one of them has had something replaced by a field technician. One of them has had the motherboard AND the monitor break down within one year of purchase. Another had a motherboard replaced. Now they did that for free, but the inconvenience and lost data were priceless.

I recommend IBM desktop computers. I know they just sold it to someone else, but their computres are rock solid and in the same ballpark money-wise that anyone buying a new computre should consider them.
