Holiday Greetings from Wes Clark December 23, 2004
Dear Loyal Supporter,
Happy Holidays! I hope you're enjoying this festive season with family and friends. Gert and I are heading west to spend Christmas with my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson in Los Angeles. I'm really looking forward to sharing this special time with them.
The holidays are a time to celebrate together and give thanks for the many blessings we've been given. I am so grateful for your friendship and support through thick and thin over the past year -- I wouldn't be here without you. I am so thankful for my family whose love sustains me in all that I do. And I'm so grateful to be an American, enjoying the freedoms and values we share. For all of these blessings, and plenty more, I celebrate this holiday season.
The holidays are also a time for reflection. It's hard not to reflect on everything we've experienced together -- from the highs and lows of our own presidential campaign, through the highs and lows of John Kerry's campaign, and the difficult days and weeks that have followed since November 2nd. 2004 has certainly been a memorable year for all of us.
There are so many wonderful images indelibly etched in my memory from this year -- the thousands of men, women, and children I met during those long days on the campaign trail in snowy New Hampshire, each with their own story to tell. The sheer exhilaration from our hard fought primary victory in Oklahoma. The incredible energy I felt in the hall at this summer's Democratic Convention as I addressed the delegates, our Party united like never before. The many dedicated candidates, volunteers, supporters, and voters I met as I campaigned across America for Democrats from Alaska to Florida, California to New Hampshire. These are a few of the things I'll be reflecting on this holiday season.
Finally, the holidays are a time for us to look forward, eagerly anticipating what the New Year will bring -- and what we will bring to the New Year. We've accomplished so much together in this past year, but we all know that our work has only just begun.
With your help and active participation, WesPAC is going to help provide the kind of leadership that America so desperately needs: sound, wise leadership that reaches across cultural, geographic, and partisan divides to bring our country together, solve common problems, and address the threats facing America both at home and abroad. Anchored in the ideals of service, integrity, and accountability, WesPAC is committed to developing and supporting leaders who share our values in all levels of government, forging a winning progressive electoral majority that spans both “red” and “blue” states.
In the coming days and weeks, we'll be refining WesPAC's mission, relaunching our website, and recommitting ourselves for the tasks ahead. I think you'll like what you see.
But today, with the holidays upon us, I ask you to do just two things:
First, I ask you to commit yourself to this next phase of our mission -- it's not going to be easy, but nothing this important ever is.
Second, I ask you to forward this message to five of your friends and invite them to join our cause. Encourage them to sign up as members of WesPAC today as we prepare for the work that lies ahead. We need to keep inviting new people to join with us as we work to change America.
Thank you so much, once more, for your continued support. During these holidays, I hope you'll find time to celebrate the many blessings we've received, reflect on all that we've done this past year, and look forward to everything to come in the New Year.
Gert and I send you our very best wishes for a blessed holiday season.
Sincerely,
Wes Clark
