We're not in a war, we're in a quagmire |
|
I am so tired of hearing that we're at war. Bush set out to "disarm" Saddam Hussein. That took about a month. That was the "you break it" phase. The war, such that it was, was over in May of 2003, as Bush said. Now we're in the "you bought it" phase. The part where they were all supposed to like us, but it just didn't work out that way. Ya know, the part where other people get to say they told us so.
I wish the politicians in our party would stop going along with this nonsense and call this what it is: one of the worst, most deadly foreign policy blunders in modern American history. If we don't mention this, and make sure its part of the historical record, then we are as much to blame as Bush. Kissing his butt on this issue - that's the REAL intelligence failure.
<end rant>
Merry Christmas to all!

I sometimes think he DOESN'T want to end this war yet. After all war is a fine excuse for changing laws at home.

6. Will emailing our congressmen help? |
|
Somehow we have to get them to keep up the pressure on Bush

I do think e-mailing our congressmen can't hurt; but with a few exceptions, most Dems have not put any pressure on bush. If you want to think about pressure, then just imagine if Clinton had lied to the people about WMD, ignored the Pentagon plans, negated the Geneva Conventions, and spent blood and treasure on a plan which in the end will bolster Iran's and China's places in the world while leaving the USA in massive debt. Now, imagine the GOP pressure.
Yes, we must continue the fight if only to be true to ourselves and our country; but our elected officials need to do something--anything--more than just keep their feet on desk and open donor envelopes.
