No more lives wasted being 'PC' (in my local paper)

To the editor:

It now appears that the Dec. 21 attack in Mosul was the result of a suicide bomber. The result is at least 16 Americans killed.

Why?

I have served in a number of overseas areas and the base security was always tight. In Greece we were inspected every time we came on base to include checking the vehicle inside, outside and under.

In other places all foreign nationals were searched every time to include body cavity searches of women by female police. Now at our airports we search people all over, pat them down and have dogs sniff the bags. So how did the terrorist get on base?

From my viewpoint, BG Ham the Commander should be relieved and tried for negligence, unless he was directed by higher ups to be PC ( politically correct) and be nice to the "friendly" Iraqi workers.

At Dong Tam in Vietnam the 9th Division was taking mortar rounds from a "friendly" village daily and could never get permission to fire on them. Finally one day the Base Commander with a couple of Hueys returned fire. Result: no more fire.

We need to start that in Iraq. We have Target Acquisition Radar that can pinpoint the source of fire in seconds. We should immediately demolish those areas. There is no life more dear than our soldiers. President Bush said in 2001: "You are either for us or against us." And General Patton said it best: "You don't win wars dying for your country. You have to make the other dumb *** die for his."

Please no more young lives wasted being political correct.

2. Yes, and the Viet Nam war was still 'lost'
and the Soviets lost in Afghanistan the same way, and the British lost their empire the same way, et cetera...

3. Erk! Brain seizing! Neurons dying!
It's like reading Engrish. The words make sense individually, but they don't form cogent sentences.

5. Couldn't have said it better myself
That's a brilliant, though short, post. You're right. The words are there. There are objects and verbs, and maybe a subject scattered all about. But it makes no sense whatsoever. How do you argue with people that stupid?

4. If someone cuts a hole in a fence to
blow himself up and takes lots of people with him, it's not clear how searches can protect.

6. Uh, Ray?
You do know we LOST in Vietnam, right?

Weird letter. I'm all for better security, so that part I agree with, but if you follow this guy's argument to its conclusion, it would be "kill all Iraqis."

7. He's largely correct - but P.C. in this case stands for "political cover"

"...directed by higher ups to be PC ( politically correct) and be nice to the "friendly" Iraqi workers."

No doubt this DOES come from "higher up"; the point is to maintain the fiction that the U.S. is in Iraq to benefit the Iraqi people.

If security is being compromised by lax search measures, then blaim bushco's ongoing denial that the U.S. is a detested occupying foreign power in a subjugated nation.

It's not about "political correctness" in the popular sense of the term, it's about the bush* pirates keeping up as much as a facade as possible, no matter what the cost to the commoners who do not realize that they are nothing more than the hired muscle -- the enforcers -- of the military-coporate Oligarchs' ambition to control the world's wealth.

Poor suckers -- including the writer of this otherwise on-point missive.

Perhaps the troops ought to be leafletted with General Smedley Butler's excellent essay, "War is Just a Racket".
