I will give ZERO money to the Democratic Party if it.. |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-28-04 02:17 PM by indianablue
continues this GOP light shift.
If I want to vote for someone who believes in trickle down economics I can vote Republican already.
That is why the Democrats are getting their asses kicked even in a free and fair election. If both parties are wholly owned subsidiaries of corporate America whats the point in supporting either one of them?

we'll probably only witness the fall of Social Security. But your optimism is admirable.

If we don't defend the right to choose and social security and Medicare and all other social programs then Nader is right. Both parties will be pretty much alike.
Even now when I get an email from the Kerry people I delete it.

I will give ZERO money and ZERO votes. Hell, I have voted in every election since I turned 18 (25 yrs ago) and voting has always been a point of pride with me. But hell with it. Might be time I just stayed home.

Understood this site is a big tent, but the turn toward 'moderation' begun by the DLC has gone too far.
We need a real choice in 2006 and 2008.
(yawn all you want: the Democratic Party has turned its back on the principles that drew people to it from the 1930's through approximately 1996 ..........)

I'm proud to be a Democrat. Losing these last couple of elections doesn't change that. And I'm a labor Democrat. I got my start working for the AFL-CIO.

A proud union member, have been so for over 27 years. When the Dems with DLC prodding chose Lieberman, an anti labor, pro corporate, Dem in name only to be VP I knew it was all over. I still vote for dems when they arent too far right. They get very little money from me. When they called me on the phone and asked what they could do to get my support back. I told them run Paul Wellstone (may God bless his soul) for Pres. It was that far back and they told me realitically that would never happen. How can I give real support to a party that will tell me my political voice means nothing to them? I will be ecstatic to return to the fold if they show A) some backbone really fighting for the needy and middle class B) return to the principals that made them a great party or C)Thumb their nose at their corporate benifactors when their interests conflict with that of workers and the poor. Until then they get only minimal support from me

but he still votes with the Dems on most issues. He annoys me for what he says a great deal of the time. Regardless, I think we've run good candidates for President.
I met Paul Wellstone. His daughter worked for the late Louis Goldstein. He was the Comptroller in Maryland. Paul was such a great guy and I miss him a lot. But there are other good Democrats and there are major differences between Dems and Republicans. I think Paul would tell you that as well. He had a better chance to get things done when Dems were in the majority.

19. Its a hard arguement to make.. |

you are mixing economics and politics here, but regardless, the Republicans and Democratic parties are both fighting for a new identity.
Currently the republicans have managed to do better at forming it's identity, while the DP is still very divided, and splittered, even more so after this year's primaries. the DU website is a good place to see that as well.
the DP isn't going to be a party against trickle down, it's tried being the 'party against' with Kerry, and lost, for it to win, the Democratic Party must become a party "FOR" something again, and with so many new and angry voices fighting for its heart and soul right now - it really does puzzle me what it will end up looking like.

28. Nobody should be giving a dime to the dems for one reason ONLY |
|
They haven't changed a damn thing since 2000. Same leadership. Same dopey pollsters, "strategists," and staff. The leadership doesn't bother me so much--they tend to do what they're told, perform predictably in their own self interests, etc. The lack of a housecleaning at the mid to upper levels, though, is astounding. These people have gotten their asses whipped by their Rethug counterparts three times in a row, and guess what? Party leadership is still listening to what the architects of the three time loser strategy have to say. They're still relying on the rove-road-kill message operatives to go up against the GOP spin machine. The same lets-skew-our-numbers-to-validate-our-strategic-advice pollsters are still amassing your $50 donations in 25k chunks.
You can believe it or not, but unless interest groups and we rank and file Dems cut off the cash until they clean house wholesale, nothing, nada, zippo, nil, is going to change: We'll lose again in 06 and in 08.
