The true indicator is next week in NH... It certainly wasn't Iowa |
|
The Iowa caucus was great and I mean that... BUT...there was certainly a possibility that the vote could have been affected by anti-Dems. Was it?...Couldn't say...Was it not?...Couldn't say....
Next week the real show begins... I'm not going to base my judgement of how this race is going to turn out by the Iowa Caucus. Next week registered Democrats go to a voting booth, pull the lever and record their votes. They just can't walk up and register and scribble down their choice on a piece of paper... No cross-over voting in NH. Plus it's private.
Also... NH has a tradition of voting opposite Iowa.
Next week the race begins....

1. Perhaps the most important difference |
|
will be that citizens in NH will vote and no one will be spending twenty minutes or so trying to convince them to switch to another candidate after they've done so.

3. Agree. I like the idea of a caucus but the candidate |
|
you vote for should stand no matter how much support they get. That's kind of like a political discrimination. At least in the primaries, your vote counts no matter what.

Judy Woodruff was amazed by the Democracy in Action going on in Iowa, but Jeff Greenfield was stating it was anything but Democratic.
If you don't get 15% of the caucus to stand for your candidate, you can't vote fo him.
I was watching the caucus and they were telling Kucinich supporters, come to our candidate and we'll give you a delegate. Which means as long as you stand with us now, you can do what you want with that delgate when the time comes.
I felt like I as back at the ol cattle auctions...Pretty entertaining.
Congrats to Edwards and Kerry, but don't forget about General Clark!

6. I didn't seen Greenfield on TV, |
|
but I did speak with him Sunday morning in Iowa -- ran into him at the breakfast buffet at the Marriott. He was very nice, and spoke with us Dean supporters for a good ten minutes. And was very clear about the anti-democratic aspect of the caucus process.
He's absolutely right. There's no absentee ballot. If you can't spend an hour or perhaps more to hang out through the entire process of counting heads and maybe re-aligning that happens with those who don't reach the 15% threshold of viability, then forget it. You can't participate.
