The 2 Greatest Things about the Iowa Caucus
#1 - turnout was DOUBLE that of 2000, according to one report. To me that means the citizens are out there ready to work to get rid of Bush.

#2 - I like Dean, so there's a tiny bit of disappointment. But just a tiny bit. That's the good thing, 'cause last night proved to me that ABB really is my candidate this year.

1. Dean is just like another governor of a small state
Who lost the Iowa caucus in 1992.

I think we'll be fine!!!

6. That governor to whom you refer didn't run in Iowa in 1992
And therefore there is no similarity in the situation.

Knowing that Harkin would easily carry Iowa in 1992, Clinton opted out of running and focused on NH, where he was very narrowly defeated by Tsongas.

9. Clinton lost because he didn't run there.

4. Another great thing
A large turnout, I believe 45%, registered to vote for the first time at the site in order to participate in the caucus. Amazing.

5. What I saw last night
Please don't interpret this as advocacy in any way.

I watched the caucauses on CSPAN last night and then flipped over to cable to watch the various speeches.

First, the good folks of Iowa made us all proud. It was a great process and shows rural politics at its best.

Second, I watched Dean's speech afterwards and, being an observer of human nature, I'll have to say this: Howard Dean is one tough son-of-a-gun!

He reminded me of a boxer who gets unexpectedly knocked down in the first round. He didn't lay on the floor and bleed, he got up fighting. I saw determination. Maybe even a little anger. I don't know how this is going to turn out in NH, but I know its going to be a battle.

7. Dean wrestled
in high school and into college. He also coaches his son's and daughter's hockey teams. He is one tough SOB and that is something I like about him, on a personal level.

8. What Super Bowl?
Gotta admit, this is fun.

And the frenzied media is just adding wood to the fire, making Americans stand up and notice the Dem candidates.

13. Yup...
Iowans,at least Iowa Democrats, really care. Mayhap this will be the trend nationwide.

Something's happening, and it looks good for us in November.
