"What would you have him do?"
Show some respect, honor the dead

Pay condolence visits, make a speech pledging support, send the Marines.

Sort of like what the rest of the world did on 9/12/01.

4. Are any flags at half-staff?
I think that might be appropriate.

I was very touched when the British played the American National Anthem after 9/11. We can easily make a similar gesture in addition to all the private donations.

14. What an awful thing to say.
Any stated or implied wish for harm to befall other Americans is disgraceful.

7. The "speech" is coming tomorrow.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2004-12-28-americans-lost_x.htm?csp=34

"The Pentagon said Tuesday that it is establishing a command center at Utapao, Thailand, to support the tsunami emergency relief effort and to serve as a staging base for U.S. military and rescue aircraft.

"The focus of the mission will be to prevent further loss of life and human suffering by expeditiously applying resources to the overall relief effort," the Pentagon said in a written statement. The command center will be operated mainly by Marines of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force.

In addition to Air Force C-130 cargo planes ferrying relief supplies to Thailand from Yokota air base in Japan, and Navy P-3 Orion surveillance aircraft operating in the vicinity of Thailand, the Navy also is dispatching the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group and the USS Bonhomme Richard expeditionary strike group to the area."

Short of brandishing a chainsaw and hacking through the debris covering the bodies, that's pretty much all we can do right now. Besides, making a PR condolence visit while they're busy pulling bodies out of trees is kind of callous, wouldn't you say.

10. Shrub is a moronic Sociopath
If he had an ounce of compassion he would cancell the $30 Mill Coronation and send that money to relief of people.

13. Yeah, that's all the world did on 9/11
I love people who harp about remembering 9/11 when they turn around and forget the world's response. I'd like to remind you with pictures, but interestingly enough, it's difficult to find these sites anymore. Not so difficult to find sites with pictures of the attacks. The one site I did find took out the majority of pictures, except the ones of white people. I'd like to believe our country will respond with vigils and flowers at embassies and flags at half-mast; I'm not holding my breath though. Why should they when our supposed leader writes a tiny check and goes back to clearing brush or whatever the hell it is he does in Texas.

8. Credit where it's due
Bush is actually showing more compassion for the tsunami victims than he's ever done for the 100,000+ Iraqi civilians killed in the name of spreading democracy.

9. sorry, no credit. EVER. just because that bastard employs
propaganda tactics by not acknowledging the deaths of "infidels", does not justify giving him a cookie for behaving like a human being with the victims of the tsunami. it is taking everything he can muster to even do the little that he is doing.

his gross disregard for human life is obscene and he is clearly not fit to be human--much less president.

12. Easy, AgadorSparticus, I'm on your side!
I thought it was plain, but I guess I should have finished that note with /sarcasm!!

Bush** is NOT human as far as I'm concerned, nor is he president, so expecting anything humane or presidential from him is futile. He doesn't care about what he's doing to his own countrymen; why should he care about the disaster he or nature visits upon people anywhere else in the world?

The truly despicable thing is he cares more about Clinton upstaging him.

Peace.
