Now that it is 2005, we Dems need to mobilize for 2006. |
|
We need to address the voting irregularities. The Republicans believe that the election was fair, then they should have no problem with the fairness of it being verified.
We need to get serious about all races. Most of the Gubinatorial races are this year, including my state of Colorado. We need to get good effective candidates to compete for these offices. Senators. There is not a senate race in Colorado in 2006, but there are many around the country and we must hold our seats that we have and make gains where we are able to. Take every opportunity. Congressional seats are important too. We need to get good canidates in these races. Furthermore, lets get more dems into state assemblies throughout the country. We did it in Colorado. If we can do it here, we can do it anywhere.
We need to stand up to the Republicans and exploit their weaknesses. When they come at us with accusations, we need to smack them down without wasting a second. It is time. The battle is joined.
Let's do this. FOR AMERICA!!!!!

1. It doesn't matter a wit who the Dems run in 2006, if |
|
we don't clean up the elections NOW! Clean elections and L-O-N-G prison terms for those that rig elections. The courts are already stacked against us.

2. I am an optimist - a Polly Anthony, if you will - and I see us |

making gains starting in 2006. Maybe not huge, but I also don't see "huge" as an impossibility.
The Chimpus Khan regime *is* going to over reach. They're already doing it and he isn't even re-coronated yet. I see lots of regret on the part of people who voted for him. Sure he'll keep that narrow base he has, but the run of the mill voter, those millions of Reagan Democrats, they're all very susceptible to new ideas from our side, particularly in local races.
With no presidential election, voter turnout is an even bigger matter. We can do that. We don't have to appeal broadly; instead we need to appeal in appropriate ways to local issues. Our candidates can run against King Khan unopposed (except for maybe a few "lightening rod" districts or Senate seats). Running against King Khan will not be hard; hell, even some governors in his own party are starting to chafe a bit at some of his policies.
The BBV issue remains an open question, to be sure. We need to be sure to press heavily for Dem Secretaries of State. We also need to watch the polls REALLY closely.
No one anticipated the Gringrich crowd to take over like they did. We can make history repeat itself, but in a mirror image.
