I heard a clip of gwb's radio address. He's not even trying, anymore.
He was reading off his script in a hurried, "get it over with", manner. Not even his usual pathetic attempt to seem engaged in the words he was speaking. (you know, the weird cadence he speaks with emphasizing the wrong words) Now, he has a "why bother" tone.

I think he needs all this time at the "ranch" to train for the inauguration. Somehow, he has to give a coherent inaugural speech and probably needs intensive coaching for the next few weeks. MKJ

1. Pat Buchanan's prediction...
About Chimpy's approval numbers ending up in the low 40% range may be too generous. If this sort of thing carries on, people will get it. If he "moves on" they will do the same.

3. How can a candidate's numbers hit rock bottom even before
he even gets inaugurated? I don't believe for one second that people just suddenly woke up in the last two months. This just means to me, that Kerry really won and the media has been in control from the beginning. They lied about Bush's poll numbers before the election, and now they're going to let the real numbers show in an effort to temper Bush's swelled head.

I lose respect for this country, day by day.

13. 911 burnt their bridges on them!
the media somehow bacame reactionary in defiance of a country moving the other way and went after bill clinton until their souls became maggoty infested by the time of the so called inpeachment....they went on to secure the presiduncy for geeb bush (brother of floriduh guv john ellis, or 'jeb') and it was all chuckles and laffs until...sept 11/01 when the mediawhores realized bushinc had trapped the slimy souless pigs on wrong side of the river! (the rubicon?) they have no choice but to 'press on to total victory or total ruin' as trotsky famously said after lenin had the czar and his family murdered in 1917 russia.....if bush goes down for his blatant crimes the entire mass media will be in up to their chins too!

21. Bush will probably have to....
go to a shrink after he leaves office. His personality and self-worth has been torn to shreads for the past 4 years.

6. Amazingly, he sounded even more pathetic and incompetent than ever.
I thought it was so evident over the past four years that it wasn't worth remarking on, however, this address was almost farcical in its "reading as fast as I can to get it over with" sound.

He was addressing the tsunami disaster, and could not have sounded less interested. BTW, he ordered flags to fly at half staff next week. No additional funds were pledged though. gwb is the king of empty gestures. MKJ

5. Here is his pathetic attempt to express condolences
to the families of those lost in the tsunami without a script.

"It's a time of sorrow and sadness when we lose a loss of life."—Washington, D.C., Dec. 21, 2004

Anyone in my wife's second grade class could do better than this.

23. Gee...Thanks for posting that link.
Just like going by an automobile accident, I couldn't resist the urge to look, knowing all along I may end up regretting it.
Are you happy now? Somehow, I had managed to miss the following gems...before today, that is.

"They can get in line like those who have been here legally and have been working to become a citizenship in a legal manner."—Referring to immigrant workers, Washington, D.C., Dec. 20, 2004

"And so during these holiday seasons, we thank our blessings. ... "—Fort Belvoir, Va., Dec. 10, 2004

"I always jest to people, the Oval Office is the kind of place where people stand outside, they're getting ready to come in and tell me what for, and they walk in and get overwhelmed by the atmosphere. And they say 'man, you're looking pretty.' "—Washington, D.C., Nov. 4, 2004

"I believe that, as quickly as possible, young cows ought to be allowed to go across our border."—Ottawa, Nov. 30, 2004

"The president and I also reaffirmed our determination to fight terror, to bring drug trafficking to bear, to bring justice to those who pollute our youth"—Speaking with Chilean President Ricardo Lagos, Santiago, Chile, Nov. 21, 2004

"We thought we were protected forever from trade policy or terrorist attacks because oceans protected us."—Speech to business leaders at APEC Summit, Santiago, Chile, Nov. 20, 2004

"I didn't join the International Criminal Court because I don't want to put our troops in the hands of prosecutors from other nations. Look, if somebody has done some wrong in our military, we'll take care of it. We got plenty of capability of dealing with justice."—Niceville, Fla., Aug. 10, 2004

There's more, but I just couldn't take it.

guy. Good God. "...when we lose a loss of life." My cat is more coherent. I'm amazed, day by day, how deep my loathing reaches.

8. "Winning" the election was the only thing he had to do.
Edited on Sat Jan-01-05 11:21 AM by Nothing Without Hope
His ability to be coherent and to speak actual sentences, let alone get the facts right, seems to be eroding all the time. How far will this go until the MSM is allowed to report on it at last and they start pushing for Cheney to take over the Presidency? He's already been running the show, but he could not have won the election as President even with the cheating. Padding numbers by 30% would have been harder to hide.

14. I agree with you--his heart certainly was not in it.
Regarding his time at the ranch--you better believe they are trying to get his sorry ass to focus both on the inauguration as well as the State of the Union speech later in January.

Unfortulately, he is just an empty slate that the neo-cons and religions nut cases all around him will fill with what matters to them. Not an original idea does this character ever have.
