John Edwards is going to catch fire
I just know it. The more people see of this guy the more he wins them over. He's articulate, dashing and a supremely positive and nice guy. That accent will suit him just fine in bible belt territory too.

He's good friends with Dennis Kucinich and that makes him alright in my book in the first place. Plus, he's got a wicked populist streak in him.

He's going to be formidable for sure.

1. Sure hope so.
John Edwards is awesome, and being in NC, I'm glad to see a politician from North Carolina count for something.

Heck, it's been a great week for New Englanders and for Carolinians. Our guys won the Iowa Caucus, and the football championships. :p

3. I Am So Happy For Edwards And His Supporters!
One of my dear friends has been supporting Edwards for a long time now and she has been frustrated with the media constantly harping on his "single digit numbers" etc. She said all along that he will bust out. I can't wait to call her today. It is so nice to see people who really love and respect their candidates, instead of the cynical "lesser of two evils" view. I must say after seeing his speech last night I'm just about ready for an Edwards bumper sticker myself!!

12. That's it. Shelton? A guy who worked for Clinton?
That's the connection?

Shelton and Edwards went to the same college and have know each other for years, so the GOP must have had this plan in the works for about 30 years.

6. I remember reading quite a long time ago
about how Edwards won his race in North Carolina. The article I read talked about how he was a good "closer". It also mentioned that he really knew how to use advertising on television. It said that he saved his ads until the last minute and then had blanket coverage.

7. I agree w/you
I have been watching Edwards myself. He has a lot to offer and now with Kucinich backing him (and yes, I noticed they seemed to like each other at one of the debates), I will back him too if Dennis Kucinich doesn't make it all the way.

I have also noted by listening to various liberal talk radio shows that some Republicans have called in and had high praise for Edwards. This made me suspicious at first, but once DK threw his support to Edwards, I knew there was no suspicious activity going on. That is because Kucinich is a for real Democrat and I still support him as long as his name is still on the ballot.

I bet you are right - the nominee will be Edwards. He is polished, experienced and a Senator!

9. I figured he'd have to wait four to eight years.
Maybe run for governor of NC (though at the time I thought he 'd have a tough time winning) or serve in the next administration. Frankly, I thought he was too young.

But I'm begining to think he could fit. Enough southern appeal, enough "moderate" spin on positions, charismatic and attractive. A lot like Clinton in many ways.

I still think he's under-developed from an experience standpoint... but that may not be as much of a negative as some of the other candidates have developed.

This could get interesting.

11. I appreciate your being positive about the candidates.
I'm skeptical about Edwards. He hasn't made that connection with me he seems to be making with the undecideds.

15. I wish someone would explain that to me.
I see a void when I look at John Edwards? Where's the substance?

17. Edwards can get the rural votes.
Any reasonable Democrat will do well in the cities. I think Edwards could also take on Bush in the rural areas, maybe picking off a few choice Southern states and probably some western states, perhaps some in that column between Oklahoma and the Dakotas.

19. He has that John Kennedy charm
Callers to Cspan were saying he reminded them of JFK. I'd love for him to be on the ticket. The guy is a natural. He can vacuum up southern states for our side, and that's a plus.

Also, his nice guy attitude plays well. The next few weeks should be very interesting.

Even though I'm a Dean supporter, I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone.
