Poll question: Who thinks Thursday is life or death for the Democratic Party
If our Senators fail to stand up, will anyone trust the party again? Will a new progressive alliance be formed that takes the place of the Democratic Party?
Will people just give up on the Democratic Party?

9. yup. The only way a senator will stand
is because he/she knows it means nothing and can lead nowhere. sorry, but you'll see.

4. If they appoint another DLC milksop
to drag the party farther to the right, they'll survive as an irrelevant minority party.

My guess is that is exactly what will happen. The DLC loves their power and they're not about to let go of it, even if it destroys the party.

5. are you guy's still talking about contesting the election. man
I'm not going to say get over it, but I will say you should get even. but I hope, and I mean this I really hope nobody contest this election. what they should do is stand up and call kerry a bitch ass punk, for allowing bush to pull the same dumb shit they did in 2000.

kerry needs to apologize for wasting our time, and money. he's the only person that should catch hell for this debacle, not bush or the repugs. hell the more I think about it, I wonder if kerry wasn't in on this bullshit.

6. The Democratic Party will continue on as though nothing has
happened. It will not be dead, but neither shall it be alive. It will be the Undead, totally ineffective, but kept around as proof of BushAmerica's vital two party system.

7. "Will people just give up on the Democratic Party?"
How many democrats are even aware of the voting problem? We're in a very small minority her at DU. Most dems think we lost.

Really, talk to some dems who don't get their news from the internet. Die what? Diebold? Watch the skeptical looks on thier faces. Without knowing the ins and outs of this story, they might even be embarrased by democratc senators who stand up for this. They might just buy the MSM's "sore loser" stories that will surely follow any action taken by the senators to invalidate this election.

I think the principals of the Democratic Party will always live on. The current leadership might not, however. Put it another way - I will never give up on the ideals of the Democratic party, but will give up on the people who don't follow them.

12. I'd like to but I don't know if it is allowed.
Discussions about this tend to be looked upon unfavorably here. But look around at some of the postings and make up your own mind.

16. And whos fault is that?
No one stopped top household name Democrats from discussing Diebold or BBV on television.

They were just to chickenshit or corrupt or both to do it.

for a party that is protective of self interests.

13. Could be. The party could splinter if we don't see some action.
But you should have another option for "the party is dead no matter what happens," I suppose. Although I don't like thinking like that, and it's probably not true.

15. I'm done donating money or hundreds of hours to the DEMS...
...they can find "swing voters" to write checks & knock on doors for them.

The DEMS wont do shit. Count on it.

DEM failure is the one sure bet you can always count on.

They are already dead as a door nail.

I'm only supporting certain issues or caandidates form ANY party that will stand up tell the truth about Bush/media.

17. Don't be ridiculous...
If you all believe in rigged elections (I haven't seen any compelling evidence), then you would also believe that the Democratic Party would continue to exist (and receive ~32% of the vote) to legitimize a corrupt regime. If you do believe the election was rigged, the real question is whether or not democracy survives.

18. what credible excuse could they possibly use to NOT stand up?
there's even a movie about this. to not stand up tells me they are more interested in saving their political career than representing the people and upholding democracy.

i don't give a shit what the MSM will say about them and they shouldn't give a rat's ass either. they should be motivated with ideals and courage. this is where leaders stand up and make a statement. i hope we have a couple TRUE leaders somewhere in that pile of politicians.

the MSM is a RW hitman and to cower to its coercion is not acceptable.

/democrat in action, you'll get excited, LIKE I WILL, and we'll be on a roll that will carry us all the way back. I really hate to think what will happen if they all just sit there like stooges. That's unthinkable. I'll be downtown at the festivities. If no one stands and you see someone hurling on C-SPAN, thats me.

On edit: I won't actually hurl on C-SPAN staff or equipment, they'll just video me hurling. I still like C-SPAN!
