2. What about his OBL statement before Iowa primary?
I like Dean but he would be a very bad pick for DNC Chair. Don't you remember his, "I won't pronounce Osama Bin Laden guilty before a trial" statement right before the Iowa primary? That statement is why he came in third in Iowa! For goodness sakes, that tape of OBL and his buddies sitting around talking about how unexpectedly cool it was that the World Trade Center collapsed was floating around at the time! How politically tone-deaf can you be??? The people of Iowa realized poor Dean couldn't get elected dogcatcher is Des Moines much less President of the US after that. Although I admire and respect Dean, I have no confidence in him as a serious leader for the Democrats. I hope he will continue to promote his populist economic message, but he will lead Democrats off an electoral cliff if he gets the DNC spot.

3. Yes, you are right...
Edited on Sun Jan-02-05 01:55 PM by slor
it is an integral part of this country to be held guilty, before being proven innocent...NOT! Look, it may have been lacking in political expediency, but the concept is correct and he spoke the truth, which is far more important than political expediency. In this country you are innocent until proven guilty, or at least it was prior to the chimperor.

8. He gets points from a lot of people just for having the cobbles
to speak the truth- especially when they, deep down, KNOW it's the truth.

4. Politically tone deaf?
Apparently it is YOU who are politically tone deaf.

There is NO PROOF that OBL "did" 9/11.

Dean is a man who believes in empirical proof. He speaks the truth. All the time. That is his special gift to us and to this party. That and the fact that he is not an insider, bought and paid for by the DLC's special interests. He is a man "of the people".

15. I agree with Dean on the OBL thing. OBL is a puppet part of a bigger
group.

6. I am one of those "people of Iowa"
And I want Dean for DNC chair. If you really admired and respected Dean you wouldn't be bashing him here.

11. Is it a bash to think that he wouldn't make a good chair? I think we're
being to sensitive here.

I happen to think he would be a great chair. I don't think that it is bashing Dean for others to disagree. If Dean's supporters can't take some honest feedback then it will be difficult for him and for you to have a successful term as DNC chair.

Dean's a big boy. We need to be mature for him as well.

17. Comments like this are exactly WHY Dean is the right choice for DNC chair
He's willing to go against the grain and not politicize every statement, choosing instead to say what he thinks is right.

13. I sent mine in thru MO a month ago LOL
Hopefully it was passed on.

Here's what I sent -

I would like to see Howard Dean be the DNC chair.
We also need to let the DLC know that the anti-war folks and Michael Moore are part of our base.

I think Democrats need to reframe our language and develop alternative media resources.

As the GOP is so fond of saying 9-11 DID change everything, but the current administration is wrong about what to do about it. The US cannot wage unnecessary wars, give tax cuts, defend our borders, and guard our ports. We also have to provide healthcare, education and other social safety nets for our citizens, but it seems like this administration is determined to ruin all those programs. Democrats need to stand up and fight and a leader of the DNC needs to be someone like Howard
Dean. We cannot attract new voters by being Republican lite, we need to build a Democratic Party by running in all 50 states for every position from dogcatcher up to Congress and rebuild our party. Please vote for Howard Dean for chair.

14. Done, and I put in Dean's name.
I'm sick of Republican wannabees, DLC-ers. They should take their fence-riding and go over to the Republican side and leave the Democratic Party to real Democrats.
