Newt Gingrich predicts Cheny for Pres in 2008!
I just watched Q&A, c-span's new interview with authors show and at the end the interviewer (from the American Enterprise Institute) suggested that there was currently no Repub or Dem front-runners for 2008, would Newt consider elective office in the future?

Newt said "sure there are front-runners" - Hillary Clinton for the Dems and he's sure that Dick Cheney will run in 2008.

Oh my gosh! Could you just IMAGINE????? He also said he thought Frist would run - Just think, we could be looking at a Cheney/Frist ticket in 2008.....

11. I thought he said so publicly.
Didn't he say something like, "I'm the better vice presidential candidate because I can focus on the job and not constantly be thinking about a presidential run." Or something to that effect...?

They wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot by nominating Dick Cheney. I wish they'd nominate him or Frist, which is why it won't happen.

8. I predict that neither will run in 2008- Hillary if she does will not win
the primary. There is talk of reforming the Dem primary to a 50 state vote- or a quarter of states voting at each time- I hope to God they do this! I think this what Dean wants to do- that is why the Clintonites hate him so much. Clinton, Bill has been a double edge sword an effective President but horrible for the Democratic Party itself.

28. I for the life of me can't figure out why she's considered front-runner
if she is, it's based only on name recognition. I don't meet many people, even Dems, enthusiastic about her.

She has as much chance as Gore, or Kerry, or anyone with name recognition at this point.

32. I don't know about that
We all thought Bush was unelectable twice and Rove found a way to steal things. Stick Rove and his cronies at the helm of a Jeb campaign and they'll make him look like a Mother Teresa saint compared to whomever we run.

I hate Rove and the Bushes but I can't see them ceding power to anyone else... even from their own party.

Curiously how old is Jeb's son George? If he's old enough they may be thinking super dynasty. W for 4 more years, Jeb for 8 after that, and in 12 years it will be time to run another George.

No way Cheney will run. Either Jeb, Frist or someone we aren't even thinking about right now. The Repukes are masters of diversion, remember that.

14. Dick is unelectable
Just go back and watch him in the debate against Edwards, and imagine that leading a ticket.

The only way he could wind up as the '08 Rep candidate is if something happens to W and he becomes Pres, thereby giving him the power of incumbency. Even then it would be a longshot.

26. Righto
If it was Edwards vs. Cheney...no contest. W can cHarm with the whole golly gee I'm prez hee-hee bit, but Cheney can't even fake a sound smile and wave. Since this president debacle is such a popularity contest, People's Sexiest Politician 2000 (P.S. I second sexy also inteligent and a good democrat) would have won hands down over Cheney who talks into his shirt and looks like he is going to bite anyone who comes near.
Ralph Reed, maybe cos he is GOP's answer to Edwards, young and "sexy" (Oo I hates him I do...grr...)
Jeb very likely cos he connected and has his own golly gee Bush thing, though not as diStinKtive as W.

Nobody likes him and who knows if he'll even be well enough to run for President. I doubt they could even rig the polls in his favor to be believable. Isn't he the one w/ a 30% approval rating? Nah, he only works well behind the scenes w/ his "golly-gee" monkey puppet.

Is the creepiest image I have ever seen on a TV screen. I watched the movie the Relic with a serious monster that is like Barney compared to DC. The Earth will stop spinning on its axis before the American people elect him President even the Diebold machines would breakdown first

33. Not gonna happen.

Hillary won't run for President anytime soon. She might end up as VP or on the Supreme Court, though. (Imagine the wingnut reaction to a lifetime appointment for Hillary!)

Plus, Cheney's health won't permit him to hold another elected office....unless, of course, he really is one of the undead.

Newt's talking outta his ass. Some things never change.

4 yrs will be tough enough. no way could his little ticker endure a national campaign.

to add: hell, he couldn't even handle standing up through an entire debate. no way could he go through the rigors of a full campaign.

35. He could easily beat almost any Democrat.
Democrats are very scared of telling the truth about his lies & criminal activity. They also have no idea how to counter act media spin by generating negative stories about Republicans. If he is nominated, he will win.

Even a no-personality, lying criminal chump like Cheney could beat just about any Democrat. I mean, how is the public supposed to know that he is a lying criminal if DEMs are too chickenshit to CALL HIM ONE????

The Republicans could run anyone they want and win- so long as DEMS continue to refuse to tell the truth about Republicans.

Cheney, 2008- a sure landslide, at this rate.

It'll never happen. The "genious" of the set-up now is that people ignore Cheyney and only see the Chimp...and he's just too stupid-looking for anyone to believe he's evil. If C. were Pres, he wouldn't be able to hide anymore.

On the other hand, it would be interesting to see if Rove could turn Cheney into the Third Coming of Jesus (after Bush's second coming). I doubt it, but it would be interesting to see him try.
