The New Freedom Initiative: Conspiracy or VaporScare?
OK, I'm not sure if this is a real threat or not, but if I'm being concerned over nothing, then I would like to remove my tinfoil hat.

The gist is that Bush wants to have mandatory mental health screening for all children, who will then be required to be medicated if they "need it."

I've seen a bunch of article about how bad this is, but I have yet to find a single article refuting it.

So what I am particularly interested in is a good argument against this conspiracy if there is one.

I posted a message in another thread, where I guess it has gotten buried:

2. Conspiracy of Drug companies
Do a little searching on the net. Some Congress folks are starting to give this the hairy eye. The implication is that it will be MANDATORY for children before being admitted to school. And later on, when all Americans are screened, the information will be used to deny jobs, insurance, security clearance, etc.

4. Sometimes I've had a queezy feeling that they have a chemical that
converts people of borderline rationality to blind patriotism and fundamentalism. Who is more vulnerable than a child?

Would you place your child in the hands of a pharmaceutical industry who doesn't get things right and robs and thieves and makes the elderly pay through their clutched money purses. Unless the situation was acute?

Take care of your own child or grandchild - don't turn them over to Bush and his cabal. There is probably nothing wrong in the first place other than what is done to the kids brain from artificial flavors, dyes, flavor enhancers, and over-sugared and falsely sugared products.

6. I have plenty of reasons to believe this is true
For example, there was the human growth hormone scandal a few years ago.

And don't get me started on Ritalin.

I'm just wondering if anyone can falsify this claim and point me to something refuting this.

The good news is, it's all over the Freeper press and has THEM worked-up, too.

5. It started as a Lily Drugs Program
in Texas, Illinois has been doing it too. When they start on the adults, think medicated, compliant society, by forced meds...from what I read, the program in Texas also prescribes the highest priced drugs for the ones they deem needing to be medicated.

7. 1 Democrat and 95 Republicans in the House opposed this
Edited on Sun Jan-02-05 11:17 PM by Freddie Stubbs
Republican Ron Paul offered an amendment to ban this.

The amendment failed.

The Republicans who opposed this program were mostly conservatives and the lone Democrat was Gene Taylor of MS, who is probably the most conservative Democrat in the House.
