Jeb Steals a Page From George's Playbook! |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 11:30 AM by DistressedAmerican
These guys really make me sick. Not bad enough to capitalize on 9/11 and the Hurricanes. Now they need to send them to the other side of the world for their "Strength Amid the Destruction" photo op. These guys are cold blooded! I recommend we start dismantling Jeb NOW before it is too late. DA http://www.seedsofdoubt.com/distressedamerican/main.htm

2. Glad you saw the post. |

Your thread got me working. I would have added it to your thread but, it lost it in the shuffle. I really think the guy is a threat. We really shouldn't wait. Thanks for starting the thread.

Jeb's goal--to become sufficiently powerful that he can not bother to pretend to give a shit, like brother George. Until that day, it is gholish job of disaster photo op.

4. The cynical side of me says this is a way to introduce Jeb... |
|
to the rest of the world.
However, his recent experience in dealing with the hurricanes may be helpful with respect to this situation.

5. Yeah, 100 or so fatalities, $14 B in federal aid, intact infrastructure |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 12:15 PM by hatrack
As opposed to at least 150,000 fatalities, a whole $2 billion worldwide so far and absolutely shattered roads, sewers, power grids, communications systems, airports, ports, etc.
Lots and lots of parallels between South/Southeast Asia and Florida. :eyes:
The naked cynicism of this is absolutely nauseating.

Jeb has some experience with large disasters but, what is he actually DOING. He certainly isn't putting that experience to work. He is flying around to sign condolence books and get his picture taken. I'd go with cynicism on this one. After all it isn't paranoia if they really are out to get you.

Not shocked but still awed at how America can eat this crap up. That's what confuses me. How the hell does this crap fly with the general public?

10. But WE aren't falling for it. |
|
They must not be ALL powerful as they are frequently given credit for. How do they keep most of the country fooled? To some extent they do serve up what Americans demand. That scares me more than the big media monopolies.

11. Don't know about ..... |
|
the extent in which "they" serve up what Americans demand. That's part of the myth perpetuated by the media itself. That's why when they keep giving us " the Peterson"....they use that reason as an excuse.
Actually, the media serves up what it determines Americans want. Big difference.
"Free Press" is guaranteed in the constitution....in the 1st Admemdment for a reason. "Bought Press" appears nowhere in that same text. Guess they were pretty smart, those guys....way back before TeeVee was invented.

12. Suppose they DO decide what American wants |
|
What keeps them tuning in. They have no power over the viewership than what programming they choose. The ratings seem to suggest that Americans on the whole are just fine with the programming they get. I do not think it is that different. Unfortunately, most Americans are just fine with the swill so, we keep getting swill. If they turned it off, the networks would make changes.

it is true that many Americans swallow what they are fed. However, I still think that they would swallow something else, if it was offered.
My point is that our only hope is to attempt to regain some kind of control over this Corporate media.....otherwise, we are screwed.
The media is the problem.....Americans are just not part of the solution, unless there is a viewer revolt....and that won't happen...cause the sheeples are being led quietly to slaughter.

14. The question is what is your proposed mechanism |
|
for getting that done. I guess some anti-trust type legislation could help break up the information monopolies. Short of something like that, it seems to me that the only to force change is to get people to tune them out.
Maybe you are right and the answer could be found in more and better choices. That will take some like minded folks with big money to generate alternate programming. Case in point, Air America Radio. A good but modest start in the face of the enormous problem.
