What will it take for the U.S. to reach "closure" on 9/11 and move on? |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 12:23 AM by bobweaver
To reach the point where 9/11 will no longer be used as the justification for anything?

will use 9/11 for political gain FOREVER. Yes, I mean that, for FUCKING EVER.
They will beat people over the heads with it, they will build shrines with two towers, they will hang bush on a cross made of the two towers then claim he is resurrected.
Seriously. No closure, ever. I STILL get emails about "never forget 9/11" with gristly photos of those poor souls jumping to their deaths.
LIKE I COULD POSSIBLY FORGET IT!!! HOW FUCKING INSULTING!!!
(Can you tell this is a hot topic for me?)

9. When something even worse happens. |
|
And it will. The Reich will NEED something else to happen, just like they and PNAC needed 9/11 (the new Pearl Harbor) to justify invading Iraq, which they'd wanted to do even before WeeCowboy was elected. Since Iraq didn't exactly result in parades and bouquets, they will need another attack to "justify" another military campaign against, oh, maybe... Iran? Syria? They need perpetual war to keep us fearful and compliant, and if we're all scared to death they can more easily justify the draft, which will be needed to feed the next war, which is needed to keep us scared, and so the circle turns. The next terror attack, as noted in another thread, may come through our still-unguarded ports. And, since the Reich knows the ports are wide open, and also knows it needs another attack to keep the fear going, it very well may be a LIHOP deal.
OK, I'll take off my chapeau de tinfoil now.

12. A real investigation in which blame IS assigned. |
|
I want to know who did 9-11. I don't believe the WH version one bit...it's too surreal. I want to know why Norad did not respond. I want to know what Dick Cheney's role was. I want to know what Bush's role was. Thousands of unanswered questions have been swept under the carpet so that America could get its war on.

15. Is this really possible? |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 09:49 AM by Ezlivin
Look at the JFK and Oklahoma City bombing investigations. It's damned difficult to get the truth out when the people who orchestrated the event are involved in the investigation. We'd have to " nerve gas the whole fucking nest" to really have a fresh look at 9/11 and other "tragic events".

Only then will Repukes be willing to stop fanning the flames of fear and hatred and let this episode in our history take its place amongst the history books. Until then, they're going to do everything in their power to keep the memory burning brightly.

16. The tsunami showed us that mother nature is worse than any terrorist |
|
We have not started "a war on mother nature", we need to point out that we have to pay more attention to our earth that we inhabit together because we have more to fear than any terrorist can do to us. Good time to bring up global warming, Kyoto, and disease that follow along with the lack of flu shots. When we find out how many Americans died in the Tsunamis we can start the "comparison". We know that it is only when American lives are effected that we reach for our crying towel.. Cynical as it may sound, it's time for the Dems to covertly use the Southeast Asia disater to bring the enviroment to the fore front and scare the crap out of the repuke supporters, every single issue must be prefaced with the fact that it might take money away from "early warning systems", how protecting the enviroment is protecting them. We need money to protect against the aftermath of tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding, we need to make sure there are more effective shelters for the young and the elderly, it is a case that could be made and when the repukes rebut we drag out the fact that the * continued on to a photo op after he heard about the FIRST airplane to hit the world trade center, stalled at the hearing about the second, went on a roundtrip of the country before getting a speech written for him and made his mark by standing on a hill of rubble after the danger had passed, meanwhile the Dem ex-pres was down in lower Manhattan comforting people. * did the same thing with this diaster, hid for three days before he could have a tape delayed statement and then had to bring in the big Dawg to help put on a humanitarian face. If the Dems are accused of politcizing the Tsunami just respond that nobody politicized a disater more than the repukes did with 9-11 and open the discussion with the above mentioned topics and much more.

17. When the Busheviks stop exploiting it as the excuse for everything |
|
I'd like to see someone knock sense into the suburban chickenshits who voted for Bush, informing those ignoramuses that what New York and Washington suffered on 9/11/01 was nothing compared to what hundreds of European and Asian cities suffered during World War II.
Just to take the country I'm most familiar with, Tokyo lost 100,000 residents in a single night of bombing, and most other major cities lost tens of thousands. This is not counting the toll at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, just the victims of conventional bombing.
America strikes me as being an adolescent country. We want instant gratification, and our troubles are more important than anyone else's troubles.

18. There will be no "Closure" |
|
Any one who lost a family member can tell you that...All to often the word closure is used..and to use it in this context is wrong... someone who has experienced grief knows...not a day goes by when those who lost their lives are not remembered by those who loved them. One can "move on" but they move on with their memories....
Now when will 9/11 will no longer be used as the justification for anything? Probably never, we will carry 9/11 with us to our graves..and beyond to the next generation. It would help to know the truth, if we could know those responsible paid for their crime or paid for their mistakes, that might make it easier to move on but we will never forget....
