wussy email from moveon
Maybe I'm just in a bad mood today, but when this email came in my box, I thought to myself, what? ASK Gonzales to renounce torture? What, so he can then go on to be Attorney General???? Where the f**k is the outrage? I ain't going to ASK the torturemaster anything, I want him in frickin prison!

"Dear MoveOn member,

We hate to start the New Year with bad news, but on Thursday, the
Senate
will consider Alberto Gonzales' nomination to become Attorney General,
replacing John Ashcroft. Gonzales is the White House counsel notorious
for opening the door to torture at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay
prisons. Senators should view the Gonzales nomination very skeptically,
given this radical history. As part of the upcoming hearings, we're
calling on Senators to ask Gonzales to unequivocally renounce torture
as
an instrument of American policy.

You can ask Gonzales and Senators to prohibit torture by clicking here:

5. Perhaps ...
it is to trap him. What if stopping the nomination will not work. Could this be a way of setting him up for "impeachment" later.

We know he is the one that paved the way to allow torture. If he renounces torture now, any future occurences could be the death blow for him, and could find him personally responsible.

Could this actually help the situation, by making him accountable (I know that is hard to say with a straight face)..

Cheers
Drifter

6. I think it's a feel-good bit of pseudo-activism
Why is MoveOn pretending anyone in this administration cares what progressives think about anything?

2. my sentiments exactly... ASK him to say torture is bad?
:wtf:

send him to Gitmo or Abu Ghraib to test out the techniques himself - as the prisoner.

4. That's one of those really dumb questions,
Like asking a juror if he or she can be fair. You know what he's going to say before you ask the question. Just gives him the opportunity to give a real self serving answer.

7. LEAHY and SCHUMER Have Already Said GONZALEZ Is a Nice (Houseboy)
Despite that I have admired and supported these two senators for their steadfastness on ESTRADA and other issues, they are nowhere on GONZALEZ. The talk that the Dems will run torture video is just so much fluff. They roughed up ASHKKKROFT a bit more than they will this dude, but the end result is rubber stamp.
