Robertson: God "will remove Supreme Court JSTS quickly" terrorist threat?
Dominionist Televangelist Pat Robertson, in an apparent threat to the lives of the United States Supreme Court Justices, issued an Osama Bin Laden style sounding statement today. Robertston said, "God will remove judges from the Supreme Court quickly". OBL would have added, "Allah be praised."

Should the Department of Homeland security treat Robertson's statement as a threat from a religious fanatic, who has expressed his desire to overthrow and subvert the United States Government? Has Robertson threatened the lives of our Justices? If anything happens to them, should we hunt down Robertson and bring him to justice? Shouldn't we at least detain him indefinitely to be safe?

9. Robertson, Falwell, and Dobson ARE "Radical Clerics"
That expression is accurate. Too bad the major media will not adopt it consistently for Theocratic Fanatics of all types.

21. Radical Cleric Robertson issues fatwa against judges
Threatens divine retribution against Supreme Court.

Why is this man walking around free when people who tell jokes in a bar about Bush are jailed for threatening the President?

8. Oh my god I feel sick now...
<snip>

On the January 3 edition of Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club, Reverend Pat Robertson, host and Christian Coalition of America founder, made predictions for the New Year based on what he said God told him during a recent prayer retreat. Robertson said that God told him: "I will remove judges from the Supreme Court quickly, and their successors will refuse to sanction the attacks on religious faith." Robertson also said that he "heard it from the Lord" that President Bush will have Social Security and tax reform passed and that Muslims will turn to Jesus Christ.

Robertson currently features on his official website, under the heading "Operation Supreme Court Freedom," a letter released following the June 2003 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Lawrence v. Texas that decriminalized homosexual sodomy. In the letter, Robertson asked his supporters to pray for liberal U.S. Supreme Court Justices to retire: "Would you join with me and many others in crying out to our Lord to change the Court? ... One justice is 83 years old, another has cancer, and another has a heart condition. Would it not be possible for God to put it in the minds of these three judges that the time has come to retire? With their retirement and the appointment of conservative judges, a massive change in federal jurisprudence can take place."

12. Name of religion
that is pretty much it.

NBC Nightly News showed a Saudi TV clip attacking them for not putting money towards the tsunami recovery. The Saudi said it was the fault of the unbelivers and homosexuals.

I had dejavu with Falwell and Robertson post-9/11 with that comment and NBC of course missed the comparison.

13. None.
Period. Both see true democracy as the spawning place of liberalism, and that there can only be one law, that is, God's law (as interpreted by them).

Fundies around the world think the same way, regardless of religion or nationality.

14. I saw that broadcast, Pat Robertson could not look straight into..
...the camera as he made his "God Channeling" predictions. What a total phony. He also stopped short of saying that the tsunami was brought against the non-Christians of south Asia. Instead, he minimized the event by saying that God had been merciful and gentle with the infidels and they must now move to take Jesus Christ into their hearts, or next time the full wrath of God would be turned loose on the non-believers. Sounds like he may have a cosmic channel alright, but it's not to the God of the universe, it is most likely a direct line to the White House and the Pentagon where they can press the underwater nuclear triggers whenever they wish!

18. Alcuno! Again you speak well.
Who should speak?

The Tillich Protestants and the Franciscan Catholics, for example. They represent their traditions' center and depth.

For them to stand silent, cowardly, and sheepish while these far-right hate-mongers flood the gates is disgraceful.

I can't wait until Robertson takes a dirt nap so I can make a special visit to his grave and take a full intestine's worth of crap on his grave.

We should make it a movement, no pun intended.

22. Greg Palast did a nice expose of Robertson in "Best Democracy Money..."
Robertson has been involved in all kinds of greedy, corrupt and sometimes illegal activities.

He has been involved with companies with terrible human rights abuses, used his "ministry" as a cover for diamond and other types of smuggling, and been involved in high level banking deals that involved money laundering.

The American mainstream press has given him a complete free pass, not reporting any of this.

I highly recommend Palast's book:

The Best Democracy Money Can Buy: An Investigative Reporter Exposes the Truth About Globalization, Corporate Cons, and High-Finance Fraudsters by Greg Palast
Plume Books, 408 pages, $14
