Jeb Bush "started saying the rosary" at tsunami damage site

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,143348,00.html

"The relief efforts will subside — it's going to take a while, but it will subside," Jeb Bush told FOX News in an interview. "The recovery effort will take a long-term commitment."

He told FOX he "started saying the rosary" when he saw one area particularly hard hit by the tsunami.

"I cannot begin to imagine the horror that went through the families and all of the people who heard this noise coming and then had their lives snuffed out by this wave," said Powell. "The power of the wave to destroy bridges, to destroy factories, to destroy homes, to destroy crops, to destroy everything in its path is amazing. "

"I hope that as a result of our efforts, as a result of our helicopter pilots being seen by the citizens of Indonesia helping them, that value system of ours will be reinforced," Powell said.

45. We Episcopalians pray the Anglican Rosary and/or
the Roman Catholic Rosary. I pray both. However, I disagree
with his public display of Christianity among mostly Muslims,
it smacks of Christian triumphalism. If he was praying with a
group of local Christians it would have been O.K., though
because there have been some Christian ceremonies in that
area.
Actually, Jeb credited Dubya's win to the intercession of Our
Lady of Guadalupe. According to Miami Herald
Posted on Tue, Dec. 14, 2004

TALLAHASSEE

Gov. Jeb Bush, a devout Catholic, credited the Virgin of
Guadaloupe with interceding on his brother George's behalf
during the 2000 presidential election.

BY MARC CAPUTO

TALLAHASSEE - Exactly 469 years after the Virgin of Guadalupe
was said to have appeared in Mexico, Gov. Jeb Bush was
marveling at another act of higher intervention: The U.S.
Supreme Court's decision to make his brother president.

That happened four years ago. Monday, Bush, a devout Catholic
who met his wife in Mexico, recalled the Dec. 12 manifestation
date when a body of unelected officials -- Florida's
presidential electors -- certified his brother's recent win by
380,978 votes with little drama.

In 2000, George W. Bush won by a 537-vote margin that plunged
Florida into 37 days of divisive bickering and nonstop news
coverage. Jeb Bush didn't miss any of that turmoil at all
Monday when he mentioned the story of the Virgin Mary's
ability to unify.

She is said to have appeared on Dec. 12, 1531, to a peasant on
the temple site of an Aztec goddess, uniting Aztec and
Catholic culture.

''Four years ago was the culmination, if you recall. . . of a
lot of anguish, a lot of tension that isn't my style. I didn't
really appreciate all the satellite dishes out here. And the
night of the appearance of the Virgin of Guadalupe, on Dec.
12, was the day. That night the Supreme Court ruled in favor
of the president,'' the governor said.

''That was the more emotional day, Dec. 12,'' he said. ``This
year, the election was over on election night. So we've kind
of moved on.''

Note to Jeb: Election Fraud is not a miracle, it's a
sin...duh!

There is no practical difference in any of the rights. They're not the same as Protestents.

46. I was raised Anglican
and it is indeed protestant. It's very similar to being catholic in form though as it was created in Henry VIII's time to annoy the Pope for not granting Henry a divorce.

In recent years they have been exploring the idea of reuniting, only they keep finding stumbling blocks. Women priests for example. Married priests. Gay priests. You know, little things like that. :D

Dying as the result of Mother Nature gone beserk is indeed a tragedy. Dying as the result of being ripped in half by automatic weapon fire or burned alive by napalm is Rosary-worthy, too.

27. Jeb needs to take care of Fl.
We still have long range problems from the hurricanes, there are still people who are homeless , some still trying to live in homes that are badly damaged. Blue tarps are everywhere, hard to get contractors to get work done, Insurance companiees slow to respond for some. Fema trailers are hard to come by. My mom lives in Vero, it is still struggling to repair areas. Homes that are being demolished are being replace with cost twice of what owners can afford. Many seniors are leaving because they cannot afford the cost of rplacement homes. Hotels along Brevard coastline still unoccupied, and trying to recover, that has put many people out of work.
So Jeb how about getting a handle on Fl. before you try to tell other countries what needs to be done, Just flying over and hoping you are noticed sure don't make you a candidate for president, or anything else!

34. I beg to differ ... the Catholic faithful "pray" not say The Holy Rosary
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 03:45 PM by ElectroPrincess
On edit: The reciting (saying) of the Rosary can be in groups. Jeb was using a very poor choice of words or was thinking of Protestent fundamentalists by using the term "saying" instead of "reciting", or better yet "praying" the Holy Rosary.

If one is surrounded by others, it's most thoughtful to pray the Holy Rosary in silence or a low voice.

42. How odd.......
I was a practicing Catholic for 40 years and went to parochial schools and never heard anyone criticized for claiming to have "said the rosary". That's how I and virtually everyone I knew expressed it. Perhaps it's a regional thing or something. That being said, however, that argument is splitting irrelevant hairs.
