Kerry Believers & On the Fence Believers.....ACTION ALERT! NOW!
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 03:24 PM by KoKo01
Florida 2000 was a wake up call. But the Republicans who control Congress ignored it. Will they now ignore what happened in 2004?

There are nearly 3,000,000 of you receiving this email. We accomplished so much together during the campaign. Now let's use our power to make sure that at least one good thing comes from the voting rights problems of the 2004 election. If we want to force real action on election reform, we've got to demand that congressional leaders hold full hearings. Make sure they hear from you and help hold them accountable.

Speaker Dennis Hastert: 1-202-225-0600
Leader Bill Frist: 1-202-224-3135

And please report that you've made your call right here:
http://www.johnkerry.com/signup/electoral_reform.php

I want every vote counted because Americans have to know that the votes they stood in line for, fought for, and strived so hard to cast in an election, are counted. We must make sure there are no questions or doubts in future elections. It's critical to our democracy that we investigate and act to prevent voting irregularities and voter intimidation across the country. We can't stand still as Congressional leaders seek to sweep well-founded voter concerns under the rug.

Please join with me in calling Speaker Hastert and Leader Frist and telling them that you want action on election reform now.

(Snip from Kerry's letter)

1. Kerry does not specify calling Dem Senators to challenge Ohio electors
This is the most veiled "call to action" I've ever seen.

Please note that if you go to the link, it says, "I called Congress" and then you give your name, address and email contact. I did not call Hastert or Frist, but I did call Boxer (because she's at the head of the line) and I called Wyden (but he will wimp out, I bet), and so I filled in the form.

6. Me too. Anyone who has called a Congressperson should
fill in that form, IMHO.

8. He told us to go after the Big Magilla's. If they don't hear from us they
will think we are "weenies." Just try to do it. I hated calling Repugs...but it's necessary. Hold your nose and try to do it...

5. Got through to Hastert's Office. 10 Tries....but nice lady....
said: "As a voter I urge Speaker Hastert to Support Election Reform with Standardized voting machines which provide a Verifiable Auditable Paper Trail" so that all of our votes will count."

Haven't been able to get through to Frists Office yet. Also told Liddy Dole's Office the same thing. Called our other "New Repug" Richard Burr's NC Office and expressed the same thing. Pointing out that a Republic County in NC lost over 4,500 votes on Election Day.

Please try to do this. If I made an effort to call the Repugs because of Kerry then you guys can, too.

I'd already contacted my House Dems on this and signed all the petitions and e-mails for the Full House and Senate Online.

One last Push....then we can bash Kerry all we want...but we need to do this!

7. Did you sign in that you "called Congress" on JK's form
because you did, in fact, call Congress. I signed it because I've called several darn Senators lately so I feel that I qualify.

12. Yes and his "Thank You" had a "hidden message"
At least I took it as a "hidden message:" Since I was urged to watch a video for my Thanks....this is what was selected. I took it as a code to us. (Now you have to understand I'm an "ABB" DU'er) If I'm supporting Kerry on this after my Candidates Kucinich and Dean were passed over...then it's because I'm hoping Kerry is serious in urging us in a "call to action." There's time for bashing Kerry after tomorrow...we need to make one last big effort.

Here's his hidden message:

On The Road, Under Fire, A Remarkable Promise, Brothers in Arms, Your Stories.....

11. I'm not bashing Kerry, I'm just frustrated
I get like little 2 or 3-minute breaks in the today (deadlines) to pop into DU and to follow up with other DU'ers on how to make a difference.

I called every office of Boxer and got a busy signal.

Ooops, my 3-minute break is over again. Damn! x(

10. HAHAHAHAHA! You took out the first part...
...where Kerry says even though there is evidence of problems in Ohio, he personally will NOT BE A PART of any protest over the voting there, and then he says the reason is because they have found no way HE COULD WIN!

Then and ONLY THEN does he exhort his supporters to call for elections change.

I edit the message of that whole crappy letter down to this:

While I am not going to stick my neck out to make sure every vote counts in Ohio because I personally cannot gain from it, you folks can go ahead and knock yourselves out to try and get Congress to change the elections process.

LOL...what a sham and a crock! It is pathetic!

Here is the full letter, no snips...

14. Leave message on their "Answering Machine" overnight. It's the last push
for Kerry. After that I'm done....but I think it's worth it to know that we did everything we could for him and get some "closure" on this.

He asked us to do it. After tomorrow that's it. But...I'm hoping that this "last" effort will be sucessful in some way. That's all we can do.

Call your Right Wing Repugs, too. Leave the message overnight. This is our last chance.

16. This can't be Kerry's response to the destruction of democracy?
Call a bunch of RWingers to complain? Do you really think Frist or Hastert cares what you think?

This is asking the voters to do his job FOR him.

20. It's a last shot. For them to hear from us enforce. I have to finish
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 12:14 AM by KoKo01
so I know I did everything I could,...everything I was cabable of, in working within the Party to prove that Gore won in Florida, the Iraq Invasion was a Criminal Act and that 9/11 has questions that need to be answered...plus alot of other stuff since the "Selection."

I needed closure on this. I also called both my Repug Senators. Since we lost Edwards we have a great new RWinger. The other one is Dole who got in during the "Midterms" where we lost so badly.

Some of us have to give one last push with a shred of hope that there's something left there of "spine" in the Democratic Party. After this...we've (some of us) got some tough decisions to make about where we turn politically for the future.

I'll do this one last thing for Kerry and hope he deserves it.

18. Unfortunately, Kerry won't challenge the Ohio electors
He is too busy rubbing elbows with Sharon in Israel on a "fact finding" mission. I mean, this guy has been in the Senate for 20 years and he is just getting around to fact finding the Middle East while we need him to stand with John Conyers tomorrow.

19. Don't need him to contest. It would be bad if he did.
We need others to contest - others who don't have everything to gain like Kerry.

23. How terribly 'Patrician' to think of 'interests abroad' ahead of
'interests at home.' I've been a staunch supporter of Kerry, and a volunteer in his campaign, but this last email, and his absence tomorrow just put me over the top!

I won't say much more, for fear of being banished here...but his sending out that email tonight saying he was NOT partipating in contesting tomorrow 'sends a message' to all other Senators considering it, to back down tomorrow...in favor of a long-term, FUTURE investigation. Such as "Warren Commission" or "911 Report???" I won't hold my breath.

I'm sorry, but that is far too little, far too late.

I won't say anymore.
