11. But darn oh darn I thought a basic Republican principal
was pulling yourself up from nothing. Working hard. How about having everything handed to you that you don't deserve?

Merit is no longer the standard for accomplishment-just having the accomplishment, apparently. Like winning any way you can-no matter if it's built on a bag of lies and threats and fraud.

3. Bush is a fighter- unafraid to take on any Democrat.
Bush does not have a problem, DEMS do.

Bush did not get re-elected b/c of "his daddy'- he got re-elected b/c he was unafraid to punch John Kerry in his throat.

5. Yup- and he fought tooth & nail while doing it.
We could have fought Bush w/o lying and cheating, but we could not even do that.

What exactly did Kerry DO about all the lies Bush told about him? Kerry could not even bring himself to characterize the smears as "lies told by Bush and his media."

Kerry could have demanded live, unedited interviews any night of the week- and used the forum to attack Bush's credibility and defend his own honor, but he never did anything like that.

6. I agree......the Dems should have spoken up and should now.!!

Or there really isn't gonna be an America anymore.....

on edit: What could have been done really? The press ate anyone who even tried to say something about *. They made anyone who said anything look like they were unpatriotic and Un-American.

7. Bush is a pussy
The operatives in the repug party are the ones doing the punching. They have been doing this since Goldwater's' defeat in '64. Doesn't matter who heads their national ticket.
We are the ones that need to be punching Bush in the nuts not calling him a fighter. But, you are right, we have the problem, not Bush.

10. OK- "The Bush machine" kicked Kerry's ass then.
Whatever or whoever you want to call it- they fought like hell, pulled out all the stops...and Kerry failed to counter-act even a small portion of it.

And dont give me that "But the media was not on our side" excuse- no one stopped Kerry or Edwards form demanding weekly, live, unedited interviews where they could drob bombshells concerning the lies & corruption of Bush & co.

Bush & Cheney lied during the deabates-to Kerry & Edwards FACE- because they were unafraid and knew Kerry & Edwards were not fighters enough to call them on it.

Kerry could not even muster up the courage to call Bush a "liar"- yet they called him a "flip-flopper" every single day. Thats just one of hundreds of examples of how Bush is a better fighter than Kerry.

I'm not making excuses anymore- we got our ass kicked and we need to ask "why?"

13. Dr. Fate, I agree
I always enjoy you're posts.
I plan on punching Bush in the throat every chance I get over the next 4 yrs. I plan on supporting any dem that will get down and dirty and fight these repug motherfuckers tooth and nail. I'm like you. I'm tired of supporting these people who keep shooting themselves in the foot then tell me how smart they are.

9. Horseshit.
I'm a Dem-and I don't have a problem as you so lovingly call it. We know Dems have problems-but damn who's the fucking enemy, John Kerry or George Bush?

Fuck the Kerry haters-one thing the Republicans could teach the Dems is loyalty.

12. I've been an extremely active DEM for years...
...donating money, volunteering hundreds of hours. Organizing, starting several young DEMS chapters, I personally raised about 12,000 for the DNC...

You are partially correct- most of the DEMS like you & me on the ground wanted Kerry to fight Bush as hard as Bush/Cheney was fighting us- but Kerry never did it.

Call me a "basher" all you want- I'm through making excuses and I'm ready to take a long look in the mirror.

14. this is what it is all about
what are you going to do about bush? Democrats need to focus on the future and the nomination of candidates who can win a presidency. Those of you who think this can only be accomplished by moving toward the center may be correct, but isn't a moderate democrat better than any republican?

15. Its not about moving center or left- its about FIGHTING and STANDING UP...
..and righteous, blunt, truth telling.

Somthing I have honestly not seen in the Democratic party in quite some time.

I have no problem with moderate DEMS- but i have a HUGE problem with any DEM who is afraid to fight Bush & the media (most of them)

16. I understand what you are saying
And Dr. Dean did just that. I loved him. Many did-he was my choice and then he was gone. And why? He told the truth-and the media painted him as "crazy" or unstable with comments he said, and with his supossed scream.

They killed the one with too much passion-and then they spent the next months complaining about how boring and unconected Kerry was. Well he connected with me-because I like thinkers-but apparently I'm in the wrong country. I'm still floored anybody would vote for this pathetic Chimp. Anybody that saw those debates and voted for Bush needs something-and I don't know what-a brain scan? I don't understand. I feel like I'm living in the matrix. As my own Newspaper, the Oregonian put it, (first time endorsing a Dem) Kerry is clearly the better choice.

I don't know if Kerry calling them outright lies would have helped. But it would have been vindicating. There were some things he said that were pretty harsh. And still he was accused of being "unpatriotic" such as using the lack of armor as a political talking point.

It seemed Kerry was fucked either way-point out that 9/11 was much of Bush's fault if for nothing else incompetency, being on vacation, keeping the same CIA/Condi in place etc, etc. But that was dangerous area too.

They used everything against him-it was Orwellian to say the least.

And frigging Osama pops up before the election and this helps Bush??

Why not blame the voters if you think Bush won-it makes as much sense as blaming Kerry because they have to be blind to think Bush makes them safer..and Kerry was a threat.

I looked in the mirror and I saw all the passion of all the people that did so much to get Bush out-those that liked Kerry and those that didn't. And I didn't see a Bush win. I still don't. Maybe that's my fantasy. But that's where I live-and it's not in that world where all these working class people around me-the kind that ususally never vote-still have their Kerry signs up. (even I am not that foolish or brave)

17. I'd like to at least TRY it.
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 10:33 PM by Dr Fate
You say fighting Repubs in the manner I suggest would bring the same results as the pussy-footing we did in 2000, 2002 and 2004-but how can we be sure until we try it for a change????

I think those precious "swing voters" would have respected Kerry if he had fought Bush- America loves a tough guy.

If they are going to lie & smear us either way, then we may as well try fighting them for a change.

I respectfully disagree w/ you on that point.

18. Actually I agree with you!
Maybe if they understand we want them to fight and fight-and damn the consequences (tomorrow!) they will know that it actually even lets you win sometime.

Well never know if it would have made the difference with the swing voters. It sure would have felt better, I agree.

19. You are right- we need to make it known...
...I've been trying to do it for years.

I'm to the point where I think DEMS need some "tough love" for awhile, instead of the usual money & volunteer time that I donate.
