We know they would be attacked my the right wingers, but would their voting constituency desert them? What about main stream media? Or would they be praised for being brave?

1. If it's clear that it wasn't specifically for Kerry, and if their seat is
safe, it shouldn't be a problem.

How in the world can someone attack someone for making sure everyone's vote is counted?

On second thought, I'm sure Rove and co. will find a way.

But is Kennedy's constituency going to desert him? No way.
Boxer's? Doubtful.
Obama's? Nope.

Etc.

12. Oh, Obama....
Wouldn't that be something? Start off your Senate career with a bang. It would move me to tears--but I certainly don't blame him if he doesn't.

2. Barbara Boxer is perfect. She just got reelected for six years;
who knows if the world will still be here by then. I would think that Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd would be good safe also.

3. I think it could make someone's career
Sure, he or she would be a lighening rod at first, but history will recongize this figure as standing for justice. This GOP idiocy one day too will pass.

8. I agree. It would show they have the courage to stand up for what they
believe...and in the long run they would win far more than they would lose.

4. DEMS will be smeared and attacked no matter what they do...
...so they might as well start fighting. Just ask Tom Daschel or Max Cleland who thought kissing ass was the best policy.

But they will never fight for us- that is all too clear now after watching them for the past 5 years- DEMS cowering to the media & Karl Rove is the one sure bet you can always expect form them.

5. If they all stood up, what could the Republicans do more than they would
do anyway.

13. It was something about hanging together or hanging separately
In this case "hanging together" or "hanging" separately.

20. Wouldn't that be a great message?
To have all the Democratic Senators stand up for Conyers. Too bad we don't have the leadership to pull that off.

7. Better to be villainized on FAUX and Friends
than in a history book. The choice is theirs.
I know what mine would be.

14. The two senators I think best positioned to challenge --
-- are Lautenberg and Jeffords.

Jeffords long ago abandoned the Republicans and would be supported by his constituents whether or not he ran for re-election, and Lautenberg is a this-time-only occupant, sitting in for the party, and has no other electoral ambitions.

If it turns out to be Boxer, that's great.

18. Yes. I just read it a short while back on DU.
It was unhappy news.

I want to like Lautenberg but he really does seem like an old crank sometimes.
