Andy Stephenson's run-in with Sen. Lautenberg
This is a direct quote from Andy Stephenson, aka god_bush_n_cheney, as of today:

'To the people of NJ from Andy Stephenson. I just spoke with Frank Lautenberg in the elevator. I first asked Senator Lautenberg if he had a few minutes to talk to me. He said yes. I began to talk to him about the voting issues I found in FL and OH. He couldn't get out of the elevator quick enough. Being the tenacious person I am, I followed him out and asked, "Senator won't you please look at the evidence? Won't you please stand with Mr. Conyers? Won't you please stand for the American People?" Mr. Lautenberg said, "I don't want to hear this." I said, "Mr. Lautenberg, I have seen the evidence, I've seen it with my own eyes. I discovered it." To which he replied, "If you don't leave me alone and stop harassing me, I will have you arrested." I said to Mr. Lautenberg, "If you stand with Mr. Conyers, you will be a hero." He said "I am a hero. I was in World War II." I replied, "You won't be in the eyes of the American people if you don't stand up with Mr. Conyers tomorrow.'

1. that's downright WEIRD.
From the statement, it sounded as though Lautenberg was either angry or frightened. Do you know which he actually was?

30. I guess I'm uninformed. Who is Andy Stephenson?
I think this speaks very badly for Lautenberg.

31. He's the DUer known as God_bush_n_cheney.
He worked with Bev Harris until recently. That's about all I know except that he's continuing to work on the election fraud issue.

Never.

I wonder if he stuck his fingers in his ears and said "nyah nyah nyah I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

5. Why would ANYONE in the senate run away?
I'm from NJ and I respect Sen. Lautenberg but can't condone his actions here. At least he should have listened to the guy's argument instead of scurrying away like that.

Is it possible that some know that there was dirty work involved in the election but just don't want to stand up from fear of right-wing retribution? If so, that's pretty sad...

7. Senator Lautenberg said, "I am a hero" ?
that would be an odd thing for someone to say about themselves.

No offense meant to you, kamqute, but I will take a second hand report I read on the Internet with a big grain of salt.

17. Tell your Senators
This time "we the people" will be watching. we have educated ourselves and we know how this works. Any Senators who don't stand up in the face of the largest election fraud in history will not be looked on favorably. I will do everything I can to sink my state Senators careers if they do not stand up to this nonsense.

I will never trust them again. I think it will be the loss of faith in the integrity of our Senators whether they are Democrat or Republican that turns the tide on this.

The Senators had better be ready for a backlash if they don't show solidarity for the citizens of this country.

And others should too. If the media wont reveal the truth, then we will.

This is the most blatant display of elitism and harsh aggressive responding towards the biggest issue facing
our Democracy.

28. That's too bad about him. I had hopes of Lautenberg and Byrd
standing together as "elder statesment" to take America back. We've lost so many of those "old guys" who should know what this is about. The ones who weren't tied to the Lobbyists and the Military Complex for their ego gratification and the bucks in their pockets.

That group that had some principles is gone. Lautenberg is there by accident.. I expected better of him.

Andy told me a similar story only I didn't get the details - thanks for posting it.

Isn't Lautenberg supposed to be a liberal Senator?

27. will you folks ever learn? the democratic party doesn't represent you
they represent rich and wealthy and connected people who run this country....and those folks aren't us.

they curry your votes by speaking out of both sides of their mouths, and you bozos never get it.

i don't quite know if you folks are congenitally stupid or just hopelessly naive, but expecting the democratic party to act in a responsible manner is about as likely as successfully pissing up a rope.

29. There are times when your country cries out to you to STAND UP...
Nixon Impeachment was one...Civil War...Robber Barons...other times.

I had some slight hope that "Grassroots" would be able to push them. I had high hopes for Internet Activism.

I couldn't give up yet and have your darkest view. Many of us feel like me in that we still can't believe there's NO ONE THERE...

After tomorrow...we'll know for sure.

32. Maybe it was too technical? My husband says I do that
, and I do , everytime he talks about the computer! Lol! I wouldn't have been able to get out of the elevator fast enough either! Give the guy a break. He is 83 years old!He had probably just come from the meeting with Corazine. Maybe he didn't want to hear stuff twice . And maybe, just maybe , he wasn't comfortable being accosted in an elevator.Being a Senator isn't the safest job in the world anymore, and how was he to know who Andy was, even if he told him? It isn't as though they were introduced! Sheesh. I like Andy, but you guys are really hard on Lautenberg.

34. Agreed. Maybe Lautenberg thought he was some kind of
nut, I don't know Andy, but maybe he was so passionate that he came across as unhinged.

I'm NOT saying it happened this way but who here knows what was going through Lautenberg's mind. No one.

The fall back position here seems to be "let's demonize him because he didn't react the way *I* wanted him to."

Geez, does anyone have any compassion, forgiveness, acceptance anymore or do we only have that when the person agrees with us or does what we want him to do?

37. Lautenberg founded ADP, the data processing firm.
He understands computers.

I think that he quite reasonably concluded that he was being accosted by a nut. Collaring a senator in an elevator and imploring him to take a constitutional action almost never taken before in history, without even an introduction, will get that response sometimes.

33. It's disappointing
that he'd be so dismissive.

Lautengurg's been doing a decent job, but he looks like he's getting old...and it sounds like he wasn't in a good mood.

Oh well, any news on Corzine? Of course, Corzine wants to get out of the senate as fast as he can.
