I am so glad to see Jon Stewart and the Daily Show is back!
We finally have a MSM dude that will tell it like it is. Go Jon - be sure and run for office some day - I'll move to the state just so I can vote for you.

Show last night was very funny and he is hitting on all cylinders tonight on BushyBot. Got in a couple of good digs at the Dems - hope they were listening and grow a spine - their wimpiness is showing.

He took a couple of weeks off for the holidays and is back strong, funny and dead on.

I've been a fan of Jon & the DS for a couple years now. I swear, it helps me keep my sanity sometimes!
Jon is great, at least he's not afraid to say what he feels. And not to mention, he's hilarious!!!:)

3. Me too.
It just keeps getting better and better, too.

Since the election, they have been downright nasty. It's just beautiful. :)

6. They're not digs.
Right now, it's sadly the truth. The Republicans have a stranglehold on government. They're vile and nasty and evil. The current Democratic leadership is sad and ineffectual and getting us nowhere. Just because Stewart and the rest are pointing it out doesn't mean they're not on our side.

7. I agree, not digs....
Jon Stewart takes jabs at both parties. If only the DNC paid attention to him during the campaign, he was always right on our weaknesses.

14. come on now
The Dems are not perfect creatures and just as fair game. I like the fact that even though he is with us on a lot he treats both sides equally in joke-making. An analysis of TDS done last year showed that he is content neutral in who he makes fun of

10. From Jon Stewart's own mouth
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 09:22 AM by jswordy
He notes time and again that he is a comedian, not a member of the news media. So he is not a member of the MSM, as many call the news media, unless by that phrase you in this instance mean to include all communications media of any type whatsoever.

That said, Stewart has the ability to call it like he sees it, a role that professional reporters and editors are largely constrained from filling. I don't know how many times I have heard a news media guest on his show say, "I wish I could do that." Stewart is the man!

As a side note, that is why the term "news media" is the most accurate to describe the portion oif the media that collects and disseminates a news product. Many folks call the news media simply "the media," which literally means mass communication channels in all forms.

"So all of this -- the deficit, the economy, the war in Iraq -- it all came down to two dudes kissing?"

18. Especially with quotes like this
"The bow-tied wearing conservative pundit got into a public tussle last fall with comic Jon Stewart, who has been critical of cable political programs that devolve into shoutfests.

"I guess I come down more firmly in the Jon Stewart camp," (CNN chief executive) Klein told The Associated Press.

He said all of the cable networks, including CNN, have overdosed on programming devoted to arguing over issues. Klein said he wants more substantive programming that is still compelling.

"I doubt that when the president sits down with his advisers they scream at him to bring him up to date on all of the issues," he said. "I don't know why we don't treat the audience with the same respect."

13. It's funny how the Daily Show's news is more "real" than
the actual real networks. It's just a comedy, not supposed to be serious, but it's much truer than the Cable news networks.

Plus, it's the funniest damn show ever!

16. I didn't realize how much I missed until it came back on.
Samantha Bee & Rob Corddry - funny, funny, funny.

That report about the Babe Ruth curse was the best.

"Cordy - slap me in the face as hard as you can!"
