I'm afraid this "debate" is a colossal waste of time.
A lot of gumbeating.
A lot of platitudes.
A lot of smoke.
No fire.

It's a vicious circle.
Until the repugs are out of power, there will be no voting reform.
Until there is voting reform, the repugs will stay in power.
Have a nice day.
:-)

10. Glad to hear somebody gets it around here!
The media won't report on this stuff unless the Democrats are willing to fight on it. Of course, the Dems missed their real chance in 2000, and then they had 9/11 to deal with, so they're starting around square (-24), as opposed to square one. But at least some of them are bringing the irregularities up.

Now, the key is to KEEP bringing voting irregularities up, over and over again. That's the only way the media will cover it.

13. That's right...
...Staying quiet, getting along, compromise, wait for another day.

To borrow from Dr Phil - "How's that been working for you so far?"

5. So far it's just a pissing contest.
Dems talking about how the American people were screwed (we already know this).

Republicans talking about placing the crown on Lord Bush and "getting over it" (that's been their stance since November 2, why would it change now)?

6. No, the impeachment bullshit of 1998-1999 was a COLOSSAL waste of time.

8. This "debate" is the proper Constitutional procedure
Remember the Constitution? The document that was undermined by those Republicans and Democrats that voted for the PATRIOT Act.

12. They can make it an issue to get transparent voting and force the Repubs

to speak against it.

If they get an investigation out of this, it's the best we could hope for under the circumstances.

14. That's what they should be saying!
Democrats should be saying what you said: "Until the republicans are out of power, there will obviously be no voting reform. They're content to call us frivolous, or conspiracy theorists -- whatever it takes to make sure the current system does not improve."

The Dems should be talking to the people like that -- reminding them that they are witnessing republicans name-calling, all in the name of keeping things the same...they don't want change...because they know they'd lose.

Thanks trof.
