To all you Maxine Waters backers |
|
I was stationed in Southern CA in the mid 80's when she was thrown out as a judge.
She never misses a chance to play the race card in the most rancid manner available. She is not an asset to the Democratic party.
Now I realize I am a recovering Republican but I still have a problem digesting the Maxine Waters, Shelia Jackson Lee's and bloated whale (IE Michael Moore) of the Democratic Party.
I like my Dems Wisconsin style ala Feingold, Doyle, etc or the Biden's of the world are quite good also.
Just my thoughts.
Flame away if you believe you must.
BTW: Nice to see the Dems step up and throw a monkey wrench into the Bush/GOP machine if even for only a couple of hours. :eyes:

And I suggest that you look again with some sensitivity at race issues. If you are a white male it's harder to see them.

They sure must feel frightened today, if they have to invade our blogs just to beat us up, and try to turn us against ourselves. Thanks, but no thanks. Generally speaking, we're not 'mindless' here.

and her courage to speak the truth...especially when it disturbs ALL lying Republicans whether or not they are recovering from the lies and cheating and RACISM that they voted into office.
I wouldn't flame you for the world. You belong in the DLC...they have a lot of room for people who think as you do.

I thought her dedicating her actions to Michael Moore was VERY TACKY. It just gives the Repugs ammo. They have long been saying the party has been Hijacked by the guy. Personally I love his movies. But dedicating the action to him is wrong. Dedicate the action to the disenfranchized and those of us who have been working.

They can go to hell. It is what we think. I just do not believe that with all of the people working this problem it is appropriate to single him out in floor debate like he was the ONE guy. We were all working. Many lost their vote. I bet his was tallied. Why MUST he be our poster boy?

The Republicans would go after Maxine Waters no matter what. Take a look at the nasty rumors that circulate on the internet about her.
Does anyone think that the Republicans would say nice things about Maxine Waters if she hadn't dedicated her vote to Michael Moore?

Feingold, Doyle and Biden? What do they have in common other than the fact they are all white men with a 'D' after their name?
How long have you lived in Wisconsin? I can't believe it's been that long, since I doubt any Wisconsinite would make fun of someone else's weight and pasty complexion -- especially in the winter when we all tend to resemble woolen-wrapped lumps of cheese curds.
I don't buy it.

16. Your "recovery" is need of education. |
|
You might start with some reading about slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, and the continuing problem of racism in this country.
You might also try basing some of your thinking on what Michael Moore has brought to light rather than what you think of his appearance.

all the DUers before me who have called you on your stuff.
Let me give you a clue: 99.9% of the time when ANYone charges that some minority, esp. African American, is "playing the race card," the person making the charge is him or herself racist and just doesn't like being reminded of that fact and the institutional, cultural, enduring racism in our society. For all practical purposes, the charge is meritless and, as I've said, indicative of innate racism on the part of the alleger.
I have seen African Americans use the race card inappropriately and unfairly. Clarence Thomas comes to mind when he bellowed about (oh, what was his term?)..."media lynching" or some such. No, you pathetic Uncle Tom, you were being challenged on your untoward behaviors and suitability for the highest court in the land. But the instances of this are so rare, so unusual as to not be worth mentioning (except in the case of Thomas who took it to a whole new level).

your post really pisses me off.
you should not be criticizing a great patriot like Maxine Waters. Especially not on a day when she is one of the few people to stand tall for democracy. I am ashamed that the Democratic party has members like you who are afraid of a strong, opinionated, black woman.
You have not come far enough from your Repug days.

in cause they are done post. Surely you are not serious to think that this whole country is not about race, some people just speak it up front while others do the deeds up front. Get over yourself and have injections done to change the color of your skin and live in some of those folks world for a time.

36. Maxinne Waters is very smart |
|
Long ago I used to testify in front of her in the California state Assembly. She was the one we most feared. She can be caustic as many politicians can be. What made us fear her is that she is very, very smart and informed. If she disagreed with her, you had a detailed argument that I wouldn't win by more knowledge. I always enjoyed our encounters.
I've watched her closely in Congress and she is basically the same. Willing to fight for what's right and to take on issues. She still is very, very smart and informed. I'm glad she's on my side now.

She's savvy, smart, well-informed and courageous. And God bless her for honoring Michael Moore. I personally know of at least 5 young adults that voted because of his enthusiasm about the poltical process. I find that those that criticize him have not read his books or seen his movies, for the most part.
