3. Today was a very good day for democracy.
WTF is wrong with you slash and burners? Is it ignorance? Do you even begin to understand that the fight for election reform is long, arduous, and dull?

10. HR 2239 and S 1980
Have been languishing in the Congress for nearly two years.
The Republicans won't even allow a discussion of the bills.
How many years do we wait?
Personally, I have written MANY emails, over many months, to my Senators in re S 1980.
Neither Clinton nor Schumer even bothered to send a reply.
Enough already.

4. 74 to 1 is disappointing
But it is a good day for democracy.

For the first time since 1877 the Congress debated objections to the electoral votes cast by a state's electors. This is progress. It's not the promised land, but it's a start.

5. It died in 2000. And don't expect the cowardly Dems to stand up for

Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, or even the Bill of Rights.

All these turds care about are their own reelections. Why should we ever vote for any of them again? What makes them any different from the fascist pigs in the Rethug party?

Fuck 'em all. It's time to start over again if we really want a democracy. How? Beats me.

"And now we will vote electronically..."

Anyone notice a lone republican "yea" that appeared and disappeared a couple times?

Oh yeah, FUCK YOU DELAY!

9. DeLay's words were dangerous.
Notice how he referred to the objection as "criminal"?

Anyone think he DIDN'T want to arrest the dissenters? I have some beachfront property in Ohio I need to unload...

16. No, Democracy regained its pulse
Why do you all think the Republicans are so angry about having to go through this? Because it kept them from some cocktail party? Well, that too, I suppose.

Sometimes it's good just to fight back, even when you know you're going to lose. The Republicans put forth whacky and stupid ideas all the time. They put up with the modicum of ridicule and abuse, and keep plugging away at it. Now, we're seriously debating whether the Social Security program, which benefits millions at a startling low cost, should be continued. It started off as a whacky and stupid idea, and now we're in a struggle to the death for it.

Challenging the Ohio certification is whacky and stupid. But it's right. Don't slide that morgue drawer closed just yet; there's some twitching going on under the sheet . . .

21. They're not angry
"Why do you all think the Republicans are so angry about having to go through this?"

They would have to care to be angry. They just like playing the role of the little guy, even though they're clearly the big guy.

This challenge was the attack against democracy. Not the fact that there are no papertrails, private corporations own your vote, and the system they use to own it is a secret.

18. well this isn't the repugs fault. it's jkerry's, he knew this was going
to happen, and he did nothing to prevent it. he should have been raising holy hell before the election about the crap the repugs were pulling in florida, ohio, and pennsylvania.

If he or someone had been protesting before the election, it would make it easier for people to protest the election, now it just looks like we are a bunch of sore losers.
