As long as your vote doesn't count, you might as well be green. We might lose, but our principles shall remain intact.

4. David Cobb stepped up to the plate unlike the Demos
Is this not enough reason for you, atleast this guy is up to defending our right to vote and to be heard in our government. I truly believe Democracy died today at the hands of the Democrats. I expected of the republicans but them, they are traitors to their own people.

Today was the death of Democracy, not the birth of reform:

They have been trying that for years now and still do not have it right to the point that another election was stolen from us. I will never ever vote for a Democrat with an exception for Sen. Barbara Boxer and the Reps. in the house who stood up for us today. As a reward to David Cobb, I will be signing up for the Green Party. I am sick of the Repubs and their other party the Democrats. I never thought in my life I would think so little of them but I do now.

They do not represent us, they represent the other Republican party, you had better start calling them the baby elephants. What are we, are we battered wifes who are going to keep going back for more beatings from our Democratic Party husbands. I loved this party because I thought they were something that they are not, get over it people, they do not care about us anymore then the Republicans, FDR is died as far as these people are concerned.

The Democrats are pussy whipped by the Republicans, are their actions today not enough for you. I for one am not going back to be their whipping post anymore, I will leave that up to the rest of you who like to get beat up and ignored like the abused children of supposabily loving parents. I wish you luck in your destructive path holding to a dream that was given its death shot today.

5. My husband's a Green....they're good people.
And he's begging me to come over! They are a good party, with good platform values. I like being registered as a Dem because I like to vote in the Democratic primaries. I like the Democratic party platform too, though the party has some issues right now.

Do what you feel is right for you. You can register however you want, and still ultimately vote for any candidate.

6. I'm a Green. Think of it this way. The Greens' power elite aren't
set in stone yet, so you actually get listened to. I just published an article on homelessness to our state newsletter, and I'm a newbie.

I was able to call Blair Bobier and TALK to him about Cobb's strategy.

During the SF mayoral runoff, I found that if I needed something done, I didn't give it to the party, I called the Greens. Hell, after I figured this out, I asked the L.A. Greens to forward my mail about the fraud AND THEY DID. When the DEMS and the 527s were still in their bunker.

I've probably offended a jillion people. But that is my experience. And I didn't go Green until no Senator stood up with the Black Caucus last time. I just couldn't stomach it.

I'll never dis the values of the Democratic Party. It's just the policy makers that make me want to break glass.

7. I have voted Green more than any other party
I have never voted Dem for a President in my life. Last year, I decided that getting ** out of office was more important than my personal principles, so I voted for Kerry. Even though I thought the Dems were a bunch of pansy assed Republican-lite corrupt bastards. Well guess what? Thanks to DU showing me how wonderful the actual Democrat citizens are, and the Dem Reps and Senators today showing some ovaries/balls, I am more a Democrat than I have ever been. Not the kind of convincing you were expecting, huh?

So there! :P

my first memories is watching my mom sort campaign lit for her precincts. She was walking for JFK and she wasn't even a citizen yet. She packed me and that lit and walked two precincts by her lonesome.

Let's see how we do. Today, while it didn't satisfy everyone, was a big step. I can't remember the last time I felt proud of a Dem as I did of Boxer today. These are tough times. Let's hang in, Green, Dem or Indy, with our values.

8. Well, are you happy with the results of the Dems last two elections?
Are you happy with the "resistance" offered by the "opposition party"?
Do you really thing that your views are being represented by the minority party?

I would like nothing better than to have had numerous Senators stand with congressman Conyers today. We had only one. Barbra Boxer. Where was your senator? Did you feel that they represented you?

Fuck the Dems! They are just another link to the Corporate party. Do you want corporations representing you? Or... would you like real representation?

Personally, although I think the Dems offer a slower burn than the repukes, they are all leading to the same conclusion. Corporations rule the world. This is simply not acceptable to me. Thus, I protest.

So, you need to decide where your priorities lie. What do you see as the correct direction for this country? Would you like to see national health care, or health care By HMO?

Would you like to see torture in our prisons or respect for the Geneva convention?

Would you like to see war for profit, or defense of our country?

Enough.

14. Barbara Boxer, Conyers...
...and even Obama at the convention impressed me. But the most of them seem like all they care about is covering their ass and keeping their job...well that might be OK with me since all I do is sell furniture for a living. But the people that we voted in to represent us, they should be doing more for us than just covering their own ass.

neglectful political leadership. Except for Barbara Boxer and the Congressional black caucus. Good thread.

...I have a palpable sense of being extremely tired after today. This really was it for me...I'm ready for some action...I am so damn tired of witnessing inaction from our leaders unless of course it is self serving.

not like the title, "Green" party? It's dawning that I have the same ideals as the Green party, but I don't like the name.

I really loved all of the "Yea" voting challengers, especially Tubbs-Jones.

Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 11:02 PM by LoZoccolo
1. What specifically do you want that the Democratic Party doesn't support in some degree better than the Republicans and...
2. What is your plan for getting it within the next, say, 8 years? Any longer with no progress at all is not real change, and you get no credit (or negative credit) for working for change. Convince me you have any plan with any realistic chance of success.

16. A plan for success...
...I thought about that today. What is success? Is it to be as big and powerful and numb as the Republicans? Is it to get what you want?

To me success as a human includes something along the lines of...finding joy and experience in this world while helping to lighten the load (suffering) of others, to the best of my ability.

I am no longer seeing a successful party as a party who is a player only. I am looking for an impact on consciousness more than being able to win an election or show everybody that my ideas are better than yours.
