Charlie Cook is saying 06 Senate has only 3 GOP at risk, but 6 DEM at risk
Says John Harwood in Washington Wire: "Democrats' Senate campaign committee for 2006 focuses on seats of Pennsylvania's Santorum, a conservative member of the Republican leadership, and Rhode Island's Chafee, a liberal who has resisted party-switch entreaties. But analyst Charlie Cook's early rating shows only three-Republican held seats at high risk, compared with six Democratic seats."

1. Who are the Dems

at risk?

As much as I do like Chafee, I am glad he is on the hit list. They ear-marked moderate Democrats in COnservative states...lets use their play book and ear-mark moderate Republicans in Liberal states.

3. Can you remember?

If there were 6, I'd be interested to know which ones. I can't imagine who is at risk for the Dems...Nelson in Fla? The rest of the South is Repuke...Landreu just got re-elected...as did Boxer. They won't beat Fienstein. Not sure about the guys in Hawaii...Dorgan just got 68% of the vote in North Dakota...

I can't see 6 Dems in the Senate vulnerable, at least not overly vulnerable.

10. I didn't even read it! -- sorry
Cook tends to go with the flow -

and if the flow indicates that the GOP gets plus 3% via cheating over what is being polled, he bases his conclusion on that - and then looks good on cable talk when the media refuses to chase election fraud and the GOP win.

4. probably Maria Cantwell of WA state
and frankly I won't vote for the bitch -- I won't vote for any GOPig ever but I won't vote for GOPig light either.

She won last time in a tight race and a recount.

She is completely unresponsive to the people who voted for her the last time.

She needs to be taken out in the Primary by a stronger dem candidate.

5. Was Snowe one of the GOPs?
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 11:21 AM by MaineDem
She has a primary fight coming if one believes the disgruntled Republicans in Maine. I can't imagine she'd lose there though.

We are going after Sanitarium (maybe his lunacy has finally been exposed), Chafee (good man, popular in RI, but progressive state).

I am disgusted Maine has 2 Rep Senators. At worst, Maine should be 1 to 1....I don't know who the prospects up there are to knock off Snowe, but if Maine can dig up someone that works, Maine is there for the taking I think.

This isn't like trying to win a seat in friggin Alabama...This is Maine folks, not a leftist state, but sure as hell not a right-wing state either

8. What

They are saying Snowe is solid Rep...Not sure about G.Allen. Mark Warner has won a lot of fans in Virginia. I think M.Warner will get some feelers out and if he thinks he has a shot may play ball.

If M.Warner doesn't get involved it means he either thinks Allen is untouchable or he's waiting for the more vulnerable John Warner.

Dayton in MN annoys me. How on earth would Minnesota send in 2 Republican Senators. That being said, Normie Coleman will clearly be on the hit list in 2008.

9. Waner would also stay out if he wanted to run for Pres.
No need to fight two elections in 2 year with one being for Pres. Also, I don't think people in VA would be happy if he bailed after 2 years as Sen. to run for Pres.

11. True but

He has time. A couple tours in the Senate, a real resume and record of accomplishment to go with his solid duty in Virginia could be a potent force.

However, keep in mind...the type of Democrat people THINK we need to run today (Southern, moderate) MAY NOT be the same type we WILL need after 4 more years of Chief Chimp.

13. Dayton is a democrat....sort of....
he's won of thos rich guys who bought his seat.

In general, I believe we need to run anyone who's been in the senate for more than two terms out. Of course the DNC would be appalled by this, but I look at the older Senators as nothing but a best buddies club who couldn't care less about the issues.

12. We need to pick up the rep leaning seats
all 3 of them, and then come up with some good primary opposition for those dems who are DINO.
