Why Progressives will save the Democratic party. |
|
It's simple. Nobody else in our party is acting like Democrats. Howard Dean, Dennis Kucinick and John Conyers are asking grass roots folks like us to join Democracy For America and Progressive Democrats of America in TAKING BACK THE DAMNED DEMOCRATIC PARTY FROM THE REPUBLICAN LITES.
Now is NOT THE TIME to back away from the party. It IS THE TIME to take it away from the inept, wimpy leadership we have had in the past.
I FOR ONE WILL NOT DESERT THE PARTY.
Join PDA or DFA now and start fighting with your fellow Dems, Independents, Greens, etc... all of whom are becoming members. Forget the DLC, the DNC and the old and boring Dem groups of the past.
WE ARE TAKING BACK THE PARTY NOW.
OK, I am done for the day. I am going to go have some more coffee...

2. The party needs more than that... |
|
I have no problem with progressive Democrats... BUT I do have a problem understanding why the party, progressive or centrist, is not committing itself to representing the majority of Americans regarding Illegal immigration.
The majority of Americans want immigration laws enforced if not tightened. Republican representatives have gotten a lot of airtime in the MSM for their stand against illegal aliens (a stand even against their own leadership), but which Democrats are fighting for working Americans? Why aren't the Democrats unified on this issue and coming down on the side of working Americans?
Am I the only one who views this as a make or break issue for the upcoming 2006 election? Because I think it is a make or break issue of high priority. I'm for a progressive/populist Democratic party. But what good is it when our leadership, whether they wear the label progressive or centrist, don't work to represent the majority of their constituents regarding illegal aliens and border control?
IMO our party needs to address the needs of average Americans in a substantial way and this is one of the hot button issues that will make or break the Democratic party in 2006. The others being the war and free trade.
The Democrats have stopped listening to and representing average Americans. The Republicans speak to their base and pander to them quite well (more tax breaks---free, not fair trade---corporate greed and devisiveness). When will a Democrat come out and say "I'm going to rein in NAFTA until it works to the benefit of Americans". OR "We're going to adequately fund border control and deport illegal aliens". OR "We're hopeful the UN will secure Iraq because we're outta there after they elect their own leadership".
I'm a lifelong Democrat from a family of lifelong Democrats and will die being a Democrat. If our leadership spent more time with their finger on the pulse of average Americans, the less effective the Republicans would be promoting devisive non-issues and winning elections.

and want the U.S. out of Iraq, but the Dem establishment gives them no respect.
As far as illegal immigrants are concerned, they'll keep coming as long as there are jobs for them. I'd solve the problem by shutting down the business of anyone who hired illegal immigrants, because it's usually a matter of not wanting to pay even our paltry minimum wage.

Maybe the Democratic establishment needs a few more election losses to wake them up.

I don't see where your help exactly put us over the top in 2004. Blame Kerry all you want, but the negativity didn't help.

6. Not just ANY progressives |
|
But vicious, blood-thirsty,anti-neocon, loyal to the movement, take-no-prisoners progressives!
The worst the Democratic Party can have besides neo-cons and centrist wimps is Kum-ba-ya, socialist, we-all-should-be-one-human-family, we-need-a-common-ground, microbus-driving, and marajuana smoking progrssives.
When it comes to campaigning, we also need some people who knows marketing techniques, how to predict the enemy's next moves, and how reveal skeletons in the closet so well the opponent will run into a corner and cry.

is hilarious coming from a person with a yin/yang symbol as their avatar.
p.s. i agree with you by the way (although i don't know why you gotta go knocking marjuana) and i have nothing against yin or even yang for that matter, in fact i'm a massage therapist who's studied traditional chinese medicine and i give a vicious, blood-thirsty, anti-neocon, loyal to the movement, take-no-prisoners - progressive Shiatsu! :)

Kindly explain how to act like a Democrat with at least some credible source for the definition.
Then point out the what that offends you. I'll then point out the same activites in the democrats you like.
