Bush and Repubs to push catfood as a healthy alternative for seniors |
|
It's all about how the idea is sold. Just like they are selling the disastrous Bush Social Security plan, they now believe they will be able to get the public behind their idea to get more seniors to eat catfood. "It's really very nutritious" said Senator Hatche..."it's much more healthy than the cheeseburgers and fast food they have been accustomed to..."
The timing is perfect, not only for the dismantling of the Social Security sytem but, for the push to get the nation behind the Catfood Legislation. Most right-wing radio hosts have been very supportive of the idea. "It's downright progressive," said talk radio host, Rush Limpnuts.
The idea is expected to take wings and sail through the Republican Congress. A couple of Southern Republican Senators have introduced legislation requiring catfood manufacturers to offer seniors more varieties of catfood. A recent poll suggested that 48% of the population support the idea, with 89% of Republicans supportive of the new Bush initiative.

3. Hey, we should send or give copies of this to all seniors. |
|
BTW, is it a joke? Gonzales should be a joke so, with Bush, you never know.

4. Will they let them have the good canned stuff? |
|
Or will they be limited to dry kibble? And will they be allowed to buy Iams and Science Diet, or only the less-expensive Purina Cat Chow and Friskies?

The GOP stinks enough already and doesn't want to amend the Clear Skies Initiative yet.

10. That's what I just thought. I hope this is a joke. |
|
And if it's not, I hope some of those little old ladies with their bush/cheney bumper stickers will sit up and take note. Maybe AARP? If it's for real, it's disgusting and an utter disgrace. Let 'em eat cat food. I vaguely remember hearing stories of low-income seniors having to resort to this during the Reagan administration. And it was loudly condemned back then.

...I could see how they would try to "sell" such an idea....just like they are trying to sell the SS "reform" right now. But, rest assured, they will not attempt any type of SS legislation until they know what cards they have in their hand...it is too much of a political gamble. That is why it is important that Democrats keep the heat on the Democratic Reps and Senators. The Repubs need a few of the weaker ones so they can say they have "bi-partisanship"...We must let the weaker Dems understand that their political future is riding on this vote. If they vote with the Repubs, they are gone. Goodbye.
