Ken Schram Commentary: I'm Ignoring The Rants

January 7, 2005
By Ken Schram

SEATTLE - People keep asking me: How could I have voted for Dino Rossi and yet be so willing to just roll over on the way Christine Gregoire is making her way to the Governor's mansion.

It's a fair question.

The answer: Because I'm a pragmatist.

I'm a pragmatist despite the rumors, innuendos and half-truths being spread by Republican big-wigs.

I guess they figure that if they repeat stupid things incessantly, they'll begin to sound smart.

Sure, there have been some significant glitches and problems uncovered because of how close this election has gone.

But those glitches and problems don't equal fraud, or add up to a conspiracy by King County Democrats to steal the election.

---

Wow... I've got a new respect for some of these Republicans. An election such as this brings out who the neo-cons are, and who the traditional level-headed Republicans are.

Oh well.

1. This is a GREAT line! It's exactly fitting:
"I guess they figure that if they repeat stupid things incessantly, they'll begin to sound smart."

Terrific!

2. To all of those who don't know, Ken Schram is the town dufus, but...
he will flip flop when necessary to get ratings.

What a dink.

4. Any journalist will flip-flop to get ratings. BUT, he did his name a
great service by NOT flip-flopping on this election and saying "DONT LET THE VOTES IN" and then "COUNT ALL VOTES!!!!" after losing. He kept it at "Oh well, it was close, but she won"

3. I don't think he's a Republican! That's what's so yucky.
For some reason, there is a certain faction of the Washington state population that just detests Christine Gregoire and doesn't understand how right-wing Dino Rossi is.

5. The funny thing about the Washington State Republican Party is
that many of the members are very level-headed moderates, who just really don't realize how horrible Bush is because they are uninformed, so they vote for him because he's a Republican and they don't trust the Democrat.

Of course, there are many many neo-cons here too :)
