Poll question: Is Dean even *ready* for the DNC? |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 08:15 PM by Hardhead
This is like the old saw about an irresistable force meeting an immovable object. In a collision between Dean and the DNC, I have to wonder who will be changed the most. I fear it would be Dean, and not for the better. Overcoming bureaucratic, institutional, donor-funded hegemony is a herculean task on a good day.
Is Howard Dean better off in charge of the DNC or as a voice in the wilderness? (Please note, I don't believe for a minute he will get the job.)
Meanwhile, many of us will forever wonder what candidate Dean would have done in the face of the Ohio Irregularities. I can't presume to read that future, but I think it's a safe bet to conclude that he would have been a lot more noisy than Kerry has been.

2. Dean is exploring a run for the DNC Chair, not DLC |
|
Dean may be affected by the position, but he will also bring change to the DNC. But right now he hasn't formally put his "hat in the ring."

3. Wait, are you talking about his being DNC chair? |
|

And the DLC going after him, or the DNC being so sluggish and torpid that he would be blunted by even trying to get it off the ground once he's in charge?
I think Dean's better than you give him credit for. He's perfectly capable in my view of nursing the more conservative Democrats back in the base's direction while maintaining his own values.

7. I did not like Dean for President, but he's just what the party needs now. |
|
I think he will put a tremendous effort into local and Congressional races.

4. If you don't believe he will get the job |
|
then what is the point of this?
I think he wouldn't be changed as much as you think.

He is ready for the DNC Chair.
I think his chances may be better than you think, as well.
