I'm elected--and relishing the power!
I'm now officially a delegate to California's statewide Democratic convention--and secretary of our local Democratic committee. Here's my new tagline on correspondence to our elected officials at all levels:

I have just been elected as a delegate to our state Democratic convention and as an officer in our local Democratic committee. My decision to run was based on my disappointment in our party's leadership. I intend to make sure that every voter in our area knows how you vote on this critical issue. Please don't let us down!

1. Wow! Good for you!
I'm a Californian, so whatever you want us to do, just let us know.

3. Great! Keep an eye on the California forum here.
I'll be posting regularly, I'm sure.
Meanwhile, check out these sites:

www.arnoldwatch.org
www.standingupforcalifornia.com

The latter has a petition all Californians should sign.

I love the idea of arnoldwatch. I urge Californians to get together and start similar sites for (or rather, against) every Republican office holder. Our own local right-wing Congressman, Duncan Hunter, will soon have his bad voting record exposed at a site tentatively to be titled "Dump Duncan."

Ahhh, this is going to be fun!

If it's not to late to run as a delegate or officer in your local Assembly District Committee, do so now. It costs nothing to run (except a $15 fee, in our district), and most of the time, you just show up, toss your name in the hate, bring a couple of supporters to vote for you, and you're in.

9. We also need one for that DAMNED dana rohrabacher.
AND for david "I'm not gay" dreier.

Congratulations! Be sure to fight ANY encroachment by the Tim Roemer people. Wanted to make sure you saw this:

He's a wolf in sheep's clothing, to be sure. AND he's anti-choice. I gave til it hurt, financially, to a number of candidates. Most of them, AND the Democrats in general, blew it. Only Barbara Boxer has turned out to be a good investment so far, and MAN did she return dividends on Thursday. I want to see the Boxer Rebellion grow. I'll be glad to help. I'm in West L.A.

Isn't there something at Patriotic Hall in downtown L.A. next weekend?

5. I don't want to run for office. I prefer the behind-the-scenes stuff.
These committees help choose candidates for local offices, decide which candidates are deserving of funds, support the good candidates, and suggest resolutions, etc, to present to the statewide party.

If you're a delegate to the convention, you have the opportunity to meet all the important candidates for both state and national, because they know you have influence. I'm told to expect mail from everyone running for anything, plus lobbying efforts at the convention.

You can also join state caucuses that meet a few times a year, if you're up for travel. Women's caucus, gay and lesbian caucus, African-American caucus, etc.

7. I just got home from a 4 hour meeting to elect our delegates
Probably 150 people showed up. We had some amazing folks trying to get chosen. I didn't run. I'm happy with who we chose.

We also passed a resolution against the war which will be brought up at the State Dem convention.

Anyway, Congrats!!

10. Wow. 150 people? That's a lot more than ours.
Good for you for passing the anti-war resolution!

What part of CA are you in?

8. Congratulations! And thanks --
your tagline provides (almost) reason enough for others to do the same. If I didn't hate politics so much (and have so little knack or temperament for it), I might be tempted myself.

11. Give in to temptation. Our party needs you!
I'd much rather have a smart, progressive DEM with a fiery temperament than these milksop DINOs heading up the pack.
