I knew I didn't trust Kerry's campaign advisors ...look at this ...
I didn't see this before the election but look at the corporate ties with the losers his campaign hired ...I remember thinking, back when the Swiftasshole ads came out, that his campaign adviser types were worthless, too slow, not lethal ...now I have to wonder if that's what they offered for a reason?? Sabatoge...remember Bush's announcement this week to give asbestos related corporations a legal break against victims? Read below ...sickening...

Jesse Jackson Leads the Charge Against the Corporate Lobbyists Running Kerry's Failing Campaign (But The Press Blacks it Out)
The howls of anger and distress coming from Democrats disgusted with the toothless and meandering Kerry campaign have gone aggressively public as the Kerry meltdown becomes more obvious each day.

Yesterday, on CNN's Inside Politics, Jesse Jackson delivered a blistering attack on the Kerry campaign for running away from the Democratic base and the issues it cares about. Jesse cited, among other things a daylong West Virginia Rainbow/labor "Invest in America" jobs rally at which Jesse spoke at yesterday, that he said drew 30,000 folks with a raft of entertainers like Willie Nelson and Judy Collins.. Jesse was furious that Kerry had ducked the rally, even though he was campaigning only 30 miles away. Jesse sneered at the inadequacy of the Kerry campaign's much-publicized "shakeup" and its whitebread, retread Clintonista imports, snarling that "it can't be just a vanilla shake."

snip...

Confirming the Jesse/Sheinkopf diagnosis, and explaining why the new Kerry imports have a tin ear for the electorate's mood, in this morning's Washington Post Jeff Birnbaum -- in an article headlined "Lobbyists Take Leave to Advise Kerry Campaign" -- discloses that the whole bunch is on the payroll of Corporate America for big bucks. Joel Johnson is the strategist for the asbestos lobby's attempt to screw its victims out of compensation, and a lobbyist for Big Pharma, and his firm partners with another lobby shop headed by Tom DeLay's ex-chief of staff, and shares offices with the GOP firm. Michael Whouley has been the subject of a raft of puff pieces by the political press corps--but how many of them told you that Whouley is on the payroll of General Moters, the insurance industry, and Microsoft to seek special interest loopholes for their benefit? Whouley also partners with a GOP lobby shop that raises a lot of money for the Bush campaign. Joe Lockhart and Howard Wolfson are partners in a lobbying operation that represents pharmaceutical behemoth Pfizer, Fannie Mae, and the regional telephone companies, and Lockhart has also been on the Microsoft payroll.

2. From WP
"Bush's reelection effort also has enlisted the services of lobbyists. The president's campaign uses as volunteer regional chairmen former Christian Coalition executive director Ralph Reed and former Rep. Vin Weber (R-Minn.), both of whom do lobbying-related work. In addition, a number of lobbyists took leaves from their jobs to help run the Republican National Convention last week."

""Both Joel Johnson and Joe Lockhart have decades of experience in the Clinton White House, Capitol Hill and many presidential and congressional campaigns. We appreciate them putting aside their private sector work to help our campaign in the home stretch," said Michael Meehan, a spokesman for the Kerry campaign."

"Jano Cabrera, spokesman for the DNC, said, "Neither Michael Whouley nor Howard Wolfson are currently registered lobbyists. These gentlemen were brought here and welcomed here because collectively they bring a wealth of communications and political expertise.""

5. OK, time to say adios Kerry. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.
Good grief, these consultants went to some of the most repellent lobbying groups in America:

->asbestos
->big pharma
->DeLay connected lobbying firm
->and the original outsourcing people, GM

I've been a bit reluctant to say CYA to Kerry but this is the evidence that cannot be ignored. He hired a bunch of whores and, worse, ineffective whores.

7. Makes you think the whole damn election was rigged from the start. The
one candidate they had to get rid of was Dean, and I think both moderate Democrats and Republicans had a hand in knocking him out early with smear tactics. Let's face it, corporate America is in total control of both parties at this point and can't tolerate an independent voice like Dean.

14. Come on, these are ad guys. Jordan, Cahill and Bob Shrum ran
the campaign along with Kerry's brother, and Lockhart was part of Clinton's campaign. The other guys sound like dime-a-dozen D.C. media flunkies and yeah they didn't do such a hot job.

11. these Clinton people were brought in to take over Shrum and Cahill
who everyone said were incompetent.

they are the ones credited with getting the campaigning going again. and the ones who everyone says should have been brought in far sooner.

15. interesting strategy, then. I think I do remember hearing something
like that at the time but didn't pay attention to who they were. I put alot of blame on the campaign team of Cahill and Shrum, too. They really did little to help inform Kerry about the issues on the street and in rural America....and other red places ....

You should have seen Elizabeth Edwards out here in Red State Nevada rural mining town ...she was wonderful but could not address a question from a ranching family out here about grazing issues on public lands. It wasn't her fault but yet when Cheney was here the month before she was, he pounded on that issue for ranchers and then the Repukes sent Gail Norton out to talk about the changes in grazing laws the Bush administration was working on....

The Kerry campaign sent tree huggers from California into parts of rural Nevada where they live off natural resource industries on public lands ....went over like a lead balloon. A good PR strategist would have known about these rural west issues ....and could have effectively come up with a way to deal with them ....instead of leaving Kerry and his team's butts hanging out ...

12. A lesson to be learned for the naive
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 11:43 PM by zulchzulu
Just in case you never figured it out, in order to get in a position that is in any way close to being a part of a presidential campaign, you have to have some stuff on your resume to prove you have worked with all kinds of people in all kinds of situations involving all kinds of clients in the corporate world.

Do you think people become advisors to a presidential campaign because they were overheard at Starbucks as coffee-making employees giving political advice to a couple of cute secretaries? Perhaps advisors to a presidential campaign should have NO experience so that they can reinvent the wheel and discover that life is more than bussing tables.

I've done work in the past for Microsoft, Schwab, Lockheed-Martin, some pharmas and even Gator to make ends meet as a producer. Does that make me some evil person? I needed the money to pay rent.

This kind of dribble is nonsense.

I see people mentioning how Dean is "independent" here...so his ties to IBM and other corporations as governor should be ignored? Oh wait... let's ignore facts when we could make shit up wholesale.

What a load of prepubescent shit.

As for Jesse Jackson whining that Kerry didn't show up at his rainbow gathering that probably had a bunch of anti-Israel socialists banging bongos and demanding that weed be made legal that afternoon, I could see Kerry not wanting to walk into that political minefield.

Do ya think Fox would have covered Kerry with Jackson (who isn't really liked by that many black people anyway due to the rumor he smeard King's blood on his shirt and acted like he was shot at too) dancing on stage with BushongoDiam beanies on?

18. the question is who could have done a better job?
I think Kerry is just not going to hire somebody like Dick Morris. He has to make his own mistakes and it looks like he kind of had a tin ear about the concession speech. That's the kind of lesson nobody should have to learn the hard way.

Shrum, Cahill and Kerry were too polite for their own good. Jordan I don't know about but I heard he put together a great TV ad in Iowa and that's what put Kerry over the top. The theme was Kerry's band of brothers.

23. The thing is Kerry had to run two campaigns, one for the primaries and one
for the general, with two different messages, and I think that's where things got screwed up. If he's really planning another run he should at least get a swifty counterattack worked out in advance, now that he knows it's his Achilles heel.
