Newt Gingrich Open to Presidential Run
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050108/D87G48980.html

This is good news. Newt would be a crappy candidate with lots of dirt to exploit him on. He's attacking Bush...keep it up Newt...

1. sounds like an ideal choice to me
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 12:38 AM by imenja
second only to Alan Keyes. Remember when Gingrich seemed like the nastiest guy in DC. Now he seems tame compared to some, like Delay.

11. nowadays, newt would be seen as a run from the left
he used to be the lightning rod emblem of the extreme republican right, and yes, the banana republican party has moved so far to the right that nowadays his run would be seen as an internal challenge from the left. he does seem "reasonable" compared to the viscious and insanely right wing leadership that's consumed that party.

2. The Very THOUGHT...

is enough to make Me gather My skirts, pick up My iced-tea and repair to the Conservatory... thence to quietly and daintily vomit into the rhododendrons!

*shudder*

3. If the Dems can't win against Bush,
what makes you think they can beat Newt?

Frankly, for the next two election cycles, whoever wins the Republican nomination will be president.

4. Why? How can you give up before the election starts?
That's bad. We win if we work harder than the Republicans. Democrats love to complain but are bad in terms of discipline
and putting in the hours volunteering that it takes to win an election.
We also need to work to get the election system fixed. Defeatism only plays into the hands of Republicans. Don't succumb to it.

5. If your vote doesn't count, you could run Jesus
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 12:44 AM by brainshrub
and he would still lose by 49%.

To bad most of the congressional Dems were to scared to fight for the right to make sure every vote counted.

Still, be active. Write letters. Vote. The bastards will self-destruct eventually.

6. Oh please Newt, do it!! Run for president!
I'd vote for him in the Republican primary, except I've commited to voting in the Democratic primary. I suspect they frown upon voting in both.

25. Is this the same Newt..
... who was caught diddling yet another intern around the same time he was villifying Clinton during the impeachment hearings?

The same Newt who was allowed to quietly resign and save face? The same Newt who proved once and for all we have no objective media any more?

Bring it on you fat-faced lowlife.

13. In 1994 in an interview with Newty he listed Mein Kampf as one of thebooks
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 01:05 AM by flordehinojos
he kept by his night table (along with his bible)... Newty is just another fascist punk--who attacked National Public Radio and the National Endowment for the Arts for being too liberal and carrying NO conservative or Republican programs. He beat up on them so badly that the NEA hardly exists today (I think we don't have the NEA anymore ... and I don't even have to mention NPR ... they are now a conservative stronghold--Bush better kiss Newty's ass. He owes a lot of where we as a county are today to Mr. Mein Kampf Gingrich)! and ... what is it with totalitarian governments--they hate the arts because the arts speak to a man's soul and help him to think. Newty is just as crass as the chimperor.

14. They could run an ape
The Republicans might as well nominate an ape ... oh, wait, they've already done that, and he won.

Hmm ...

Okay, Newt would have to become a "Christian" (by the right-wing definition) in order to become a viable candidate. He would have to be born again and make some schmaltzy speech about finding Christ and turning his back on sin. He could never pull this off ...

Oh, wait ... They did that with Bush, and it worked, and a Christian ape was selected by the Supreme Court and then "re"-elected by the faithful.

Ergo, the Republicans can run anybody, and as long as they can demonize "liberals" and make "sin" and "patriotism" the issues, their candidate will win.

So ... don't laugh off the warty toadfrog Newt.

16. "Lots of dirt" is an understatement! Turned Orwell's '1984' into a Rethug-
lican-speak political manual; shut down the government in a fit of pique because he didn't get a good seat on Air Force 1; married his high school English teacher; served divorce papers on her when she was hospitalized with cancer; was having his own extramarital fling with a staffer while criticizing Clinton for Monica; said children of parents who lost all income because of 'welfare reform' "can go to an ORPHANAGE (his emphasis)".

Plus, he's a boring pinhead who thinks he's a genius! Bring it on!

Family Values? Pressing Wife for Divorce in the Hospital:
"He walked out in the spring of 1980.... By September, I went into the hospital for my third surgery. The two girls came to see me, and said, "Daddy is downstairs. Could he come up?" When he got there, he wanted to discuss the terms of the divorce while I was recovering from my surgery." - Jackie, his first wife
..........

Now if only the Dems have the balls to actually use this stuff against him!
