Bush-Clinton team may have future assignments

By Tom Raum , Associated Press

President Bush and Bill Clinton are unlikely partners, given their political differences. But their membership in the oh-so-exclusive club of American presidents has forged an increasingly warm bond and melted away some of the old bitterness.

When he needed someone to head up a tsunami-relief effort, it was natural for Bush to reach out to his father, the first President Bush.

(snip)

If Clinton and the elder Bush prove successful on their fund- raising mission, as they seem to be doing, Bush might want to consider other projects for the duo.

"It might be a way for Bush finally to get around to paying off on this notion that he's a uniter, not a divider,' Princeton political scientist Fred Greenstein said.

2. If the campaign works, then all the better.
I won't be dissing this if the duo works in favor of worthwile missions like the tsunami relief one.

4. Shame on Bubba
I love him, and he's still my President, but letting himself be used like this - there is no need for any photo ops in South Asia right now - is stupid.

He should be keeping his distance. His presence just gives Fuckface a credibility he doesn't deserve.

And, is it me, or does the Big Dog look awful these days?

6. I know, I know
He and I are the same age, and I've known people who had the same surgery he had.

But, there's an unhealthy look to him. He's lost something. That spark. Do you know what I mean?

I hope he's not been hit with the depression that's so common to bypass patients. It can last for up to two years, and is just terrible.

I hope I'm just seeing things.

But I still think he shouldn't be aligned with any Bush family member on anything.

9. I'm seeing it too - we just saw a tv ad with poppy and Clinton
and WJC looked positively ghostly - he is drained of color (was wearing a black suit though, that probably didn't help) and his hair looked nearly white. He spoke the majority of the lines, though, and did a good job.

But you're right, his spark isn't quite there right now. I hope he's okay and worry about the taint and toxicity of aligning with any Bush on anything.

7. My fear is that Clinton is used by Bush to raise his (Bush's) image....
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 09:01 PM by Gloria
I don't want to see Clinton enabling Bush!!

As for Poppy, when he was on with Clinton on Larry King, he once again brought up how Clinton beat him...as he did at the library. The Bushes don't "forgive". I'm sure they hate Clinton's guts and would love to use him to THEIR advantage...which in the long run, might hurt Clinton among Democrats if he seems too accommodating.

I just don't want to see that happen. And I don't want to see Bush use Clinton to bolster his "compassionate conservative" bullshit image...
