The Secret of Barbara Boxer
I know it's difficult for Democrats to recognize it when we see it, but there is something special about Barbara Boxer that you might not notice from this picture:

The reason is because it's a front shot - you can't see the HUGE BACKBONE - Yep, it's true! Barbara Boxer has a SPINE.

Boxer/Dean 2008!

4. That makes me smile, thank you
She also stood up against the repubs and for women's rights last month when they voted on the omnibus appropriations bill that someone in the House had stuck an anti-choice provision into that the Senate had never approved, and she got Frist to agree to hold a vote on the measure early in this new congress.

She has some strong opponents in Calif these days and had a hard fight for her re-election in Nov. The same group that targetted Gray Davis and got him recalled had her in their crosshairs and worked hard to defeat her. Lucky for us, she won against them.

8. Barbara Boxer voted against NAFTA
If she runs for President in 2008, she not only has my vote, she has my money and my volunteer time as well.

I'm not wasting my time with whimpy Democrats like Kerry anymore - give me Barbara "Spinal Cord" Boxer any day! :) :)

Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 01:51 AM by Liberty Belle
With a bunch of other Dems in San Diego.

If we could just figure out how to clone Barbara, we'd all be in great shape!

I hope you'll send Barbara a copy of your post. I'm sure she and her staff would get a kick out of it.

On second thought, I'll bring a copy with me tomorrow!

14. I sent her a bunch of "I love you" Balloons on Friday....
I have only sent something one other time to a Politician - Jeffords when he became an Independent. Both what he did and what Boxer did last week were amazing Patriotic and courageous moves by these two people...

Yeah, I'm pretty proud to have her as my Senator....Next time I see her here in the neighborhood where I live and she has a home, I'm going to give her a hug...

6. In her recent senate race
she ran against a rw conservative. It wasn't even a race. Still she ran very good commercials where she talked about how she was pro-choice, pro-family. I liked her commercials - she comes across as very smart and sincere.

Why all this talk about Hillary (who I admire) for prez? Barbara is the obvious choice!

11. Yes, she was gutsy even during the election.
I can't recall the last time I'd seen a candidate dare to run ads advertising a pro-choice stance. Most these days seem to keep it hidden for fear of being attacked by the anti-choicers.

18. I love Boxer and Dean, but
the WH house has a glass ceiling that keeps out women and northerners. I am sorry for you Californians since the last prez from that great state was Reagan. I wish a good California Democrat could be president, just like I wish a Maryland Democrat could be prez, but both our states keep shooting conservative nutcases at the WH (y'all had Gipper and we had Agnew and Keyes).
Still shaking my head over the fact that Dubya, Gipper, Poppy, Tricky Dicky can all be prez, but not some wonderful decent person like Dean or Boxer.

30. Bush is from Connecticut
which is a northern state. Why are northern republicans electable, but not northern Democrats?

Also, Boxer's Jewish, and that's a ceiling I don't think will be broken anytime soon, unfortunately.

38. Let's support Barbara's PAC
I did a little digging around, and I see that Senator Boxer has a PAC -- "PAC for a Change". I hope she keeps fighting!

Check it out... now that her campaign is over, we can't support that, but we should join her PAC and at least sign up for the email list.
