U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor chosen as Southern Vice Chair
<WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., was selected by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) to be the Southern Vice Chair for the 2006 election cycle.

Pryor said his new position provides him an opportunity to ensure the issues, values and beliefs important to Southerners are represented as part of the DSCC's mission. His other responsibilities for the DSCC will include candidate recruitment and fundraising.

Pryor said the DSCC has divided its traditional vice chair position into five regional vice chairs this year, allowing it to capitalize on regional expertise.

"I am looking forward to working with the DSCC to rebuild Democratic representation in the South," Pryor said.

In addition to Pryor, the following senators have been selected to represent their regions as vice chairs: Jack Reed of Rhode Island, Northeast; Barack Obama of Illinois, Midwest; Ron Wyden of Oregon, Northwest; and Barbara Boxer of California, West.>

1. Yes!!! Barbara Boxer as vice chair -- our hero!
Barack Obama is good, too. I don't know much about the others. Are these progressives?

2. Yay Obama!
He's already moving into a leadership position. They probably decided they could use him to raise a lot of money in the midwest.
