he is a u.s.marine reserve who was already over there for a year. he came home, was home for about 6 months, and just got a call, he is going back for at least another year. this is how bush and company are conducting their "back door draft"

1. Somehow I do not feel sorry for these reservists
It has been apparent for some time now that Bush game plan was 12-15 months in country and 6 months home, repeat as many times as needed.

Kerry wanted 40,000 more troops but the military labeled him anti-military. Oh Well ......

3. So it's the reservists fault that stop loss policies have been
implemented and they can't get out of the service despite the fact that their enlistment is up in many cases?

They didn't sign up for duty like that.

4. Did the Military want Bush re-elected YES
before the election how many photo-ops did Bush do with smiling faces of troops behind him.

election night did CNN show a large group of troops jumping for joy every time Bush won a state.. YES

No the military voted for Bush and they are getting what they voted for. 2-3 years out of the next 4 years in Iraq or Afghanistan or some other wonderful place like Iran or Syria.

11. Seen Posts Here With Insider Information Saying The Military Voted Kerry
Maybe the assumption that the military went Bush is not true.

No Link.

12. I think the Reservist went for Kerry
but Air Force, Navy, Marines and maybe Army Regulars I believe voted Bush by 60%. And the Air Force maybe by more, Rummy always takes care of the Air Force.

13. I'm glad you know how the entire military voted, since nobody
else does. You did know that the "smiling" faces behind the Chimperor were hand selected right?

15. It's been widely proven already, simply do the research
Much like any other Chimp appearance, only those who showed their support for him were allowed anywhere near the place. Start with Thanksgiving 2003 for an example.

21. I won't dignify that with a response, simply check DU itself for the
information, we've discussed here hundreds of times. You might also want to read the posting rules of DU before attacking me again.

8. how would kerry have gotten 40,000 more troops without a draft?
..and by the way, i voted for kerry...although, after his quick concession to bush iam extremely disappointed in kerry and in his seemingly subsequent refusal to admit to himself that he lost the election as he is acting as if he is still a candidate for the presidency of the U.S.

anyhow, back to my original question, where would he have gotten 40,000 more people without a draft? don't know of too many people who are volunteering to go to the army.

i know a few people who say, they would serve in a heartbeat if they were called to serve... i don't see their heartbeat run to the draft office to offer that service they say the would give... me thinks my friends are full of hot air.

9. Well for one from Reservist signing up to go regular
And from high school students that do want to do something for their country.

I do believe he could have gotten 40,000 with a CLEAR EXIT PLAN for Iraq.

2. A good friend's son
is going there soon, date not certain yet.

This is a young man who enlisted about a year ago, well after the war started, so the risk was already there. But what's interesting, and relevant to the back door draft are the details of this young man's deployment.

He was informed a month or so ago that his unit would be going in April. Then, about a week ago, he was told that since there are personnel shortages all around, and since different branches of the service now borrow personnel from each other, he's being transferred to some other unit (my friend didn't give me the precise details) and is now going to Denver in mid-February for additional training for about three weeks, and then it's on to Iraq where he'll be on convoy duty. At least that's the plan as of now.

So manpower numbers are such that not only reservists are being constantly on active duty, but the active duty troops are being shuffled around.

Anyone who thinks there won't be a draft -- even though undoubtedly it will be given a different name altogether -- is being naive.

6. I know it's easy for me to say but
will he consider Canada?

I understand the Canadian government has streamlined immigration policies for those in harm's way. It takes about a year for all others.

Well, I hope your friend, my brother, and all the rest make it out safely, but unfortunately that won't be the case for some of them.

25. OMG , Justin The third time.
If anyone says there isn't a backdoor draft going on, they've got their heads in the sand.

I hope your brother is soon safe at home. It has to be very hard on your family, too.

20. I hate to see anyone being sent to Iraq.
It just makes it that much easier for them to get killed or wounded. If they are repeating a tour of duty, it just increases those chances of death or injury. A some point the Grim Reaper must be paid.
