It's early, but I've seen these two clowns listed as early as Presidential candidates. Good grief! But Dick Cheney is never mentioned. I'm tellin' ya. This guys in and the hard right is rejoicing. 666 Baby:evilgrin:

I'm ashamed that he's from my state.
If my humble opinion, he looks like a child molester in a suit.

2. I've always thought Newt would run |
|
He's a dangerous man. Imagine someone as evil as AWOL but a million times more articulate. The way things are going the GOP nomination is essentially a ticket to the WH and if Newt wins it - he's in.

Considering that he's been divorced more than once and that one of his divorces was caused by an affair he had with one of his Congressional staffers, I doubt that he has a snowball's chance of clearing the primaries. Besides, his Contract With America was a major failure.

7. Whoever wins the GOP nomination becomes the President |
|
I wouldn't make Newt a favorite - but he'll have plenty of $$$ and lots of the GOP "intelligentsia" behind him. His oratorical skills are frightening (he makes the insane crap that he spews sound very reasonable and logical)and he would be a formidable challenger. The GOP has a habit of nominating folks who have not been in office during the process (Ike, Nixon, Reagan) and Newt has the advantage of being able to travel the country right now campaiging (book tour) without being tied to or tied down by Washington, DC.
Don't be surprised if he's the next president. The divorce crap only matters if you're a Democrat.

he left the first one when she had cancer, I don't know if it was because she had cancer...but then again, he left his 2nd wife when she was dx'd with MS. So there is a pattern there.

You're right that unless Newt's GOP competition decides to make it an issue, the MSM won't. However, the most damning aspect of that divorce from his cancer-ridden wife was that he had her served with papers in the hospital.

there are large chunks of this country that will go red regardless of who the gop nominates (as long as that person is not pro choice and gingrich isn't).

I still think John McCain is the GOP candidate in 2008, and if they put Colin Powell or Giuliani on the ticket, who do the Dems have? It sucks getting whooped by the f---ing arrogant GOP bastards, but it'll hurt really bad to get flat-out overrun!

...despite the 9/11 infusion to his career. Remember, he was living in the mayor's mansion with his mistress and his estranged wife pre-9/11. Sell that one in Jesusland.

and Powell isn't exactly in the RNC's "in-crowd" anymore -- his chance to run has passed.

Jeb- I think even the GOP don't want another Bush in the White House. For some reason I still think that secretly most of the GOP doesn't like Bush but for the sake of the party they put up with his crap.
Newt-I am a little worried about this one. He is like Bush but the difference between the two is that Newt doesn't need a Karl Rove to think for him and scheme...He is one.
Rudy- The only reason why I would think Rudy would have a chance is due to his post 9/11 actions image. I mean, his affair story was totally eclipsed by his "courageous leadership" after the attack.
What I'm eagerly waiting is who would Hilary pick as her running mate.

16. Newt and Rudy both have a lot of skeletons in their closets |
|
I don't think the Christian conservatives will go for that. Then again, I'm always surprised at the things they'll accept and vote for, so who knows. Maybe they can just claim "youthful indiscretions" and say they've been born again -- worked for Chimp!
I agree there's a lot of Rove in Newt.
I saw the governor of Colorado (R) on TV the other day-- don't know anything about him, but I thought that'd be the sort of person I hope they don't nominate -- the normal-seeming ones.

24. To be honest, I don't know how old the guy is... |
|
But he's Vietnam era and so are shrub and so was Kerry. Reagan was at least 400 years old when he ran. I haven't seen much to show me that McCain is sickly or frail or anything (aside from the obvious dementia exhibited in the ghastly hug of shrub episode).
Aside from that, he's well liked by a broad spectrum of people in the country and he's also SMART (this may be a reason the thugs would NOT select him...).

Our dream opponent.
More articulate than Bush, so he can't hind behind "folksy" mask
Just as evil as Bush, just as divisive as Bush, but not nearly as popular.
Horrible family values - didn't Newti dump his wife on her deathbed?
Already discredited. Failed to get rid of Clinton TWICE.
If Newt runs and wins the GOP nod, I say we run Gore.
