Time to focus our efforts on Election Reform

It's time we took charge. Ongoing election funding drives should refocus IMO on the topic of election reform. Organizations like MoveOn should be spearheading lobbying and reform activities on the hill. We MUST take action now to ensure our next election is fair and fully accountable to the people.

Elections need to be standardized throughout the nation, and all elections must be independently verifiable.

1. That has to be our number one issue. If we do not get a paper
trail and machines that work correctly then nothing else matters because the neo-cons will murder the democracy. What should be our first step, contacting Move-on? Writing editorials? Or etc.?

3. We need an organized, funded effort

Our Democracy is for sale to the highest bidder. The only chance we have is to spend money to buy it back. We need to lobby and pressure with every conceivable means to force Congress to restore Democracy to our Union.

4. We can try, but with the GOP & corporate stranglehold on DC it will be
a struggle at best. :^(

5. I'm with you.
Paper receipts, standard random auditing and uniform standard are a must. I was one who thought that it could very well be the case that Bush simply got enough idiots to vote for him. However, I don't really trust the results of any election at this point. Lautenberg's bill to keep people in charge of the election process from being campaign chairs for people running is a nice start but we need to go a lot further than that to make elections meaningful and trustworthy. Perhaps even a Constitutional amendment like Jackson proposed , that specifically gives everyone the right to vote at a federal level.
