A talking point, when people say that an economic progressive... |
|
...can't get elected, tell them this story
In 1928, Herbert Hoover, a pro-business Republican took on inoffensive, centrist Al Smith. Smith lost handily.
In 1932, Herbert Hoover took on strong party progressive Franklin Roosevelt. Roosevelt crushed Hoover.
Just goes to show you what an economic progressive would bring to the ticket, and that the DNC needs more FDRs and less Al Smiths

Of course people now decry Roosevelt for his stance because they are trying to do away with the New Deal.
